Would you like to learn trumpet, bugle or cornet or are you looking for more depth? I am happy to help you!

I studied trumpet at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and built up a lot of pedagogical skills through my Educational Master Music and Performing Arts at LUCA School of Arts and experience as a teacher. I have worked with students of all ages, it is never too late to start (again)!

The lessons can range from rather technical to musical, exploring different genres. As a teacher I am flexible, everything is tailored to the student. The goal is that you can develop yourself with pleasure on the instrument.
I can also provide support with music theory.

You can bring your own repertoire, I have more than enough study material myself.

Lessons are in the Leuven region, at your home or at a location chosen by me.

About Me

Hey, I'm Roos!
I started playing the trumpet when I was eight years old and never stopped.
I would like to share that passion with you. Music can contribute a lot to our lives, especially if it is a wind instrument with which you can play in all kinds of orchestras.

I live with my cat Fernando in Heverlee. Home lessons are possible in the Leuven region or we can meet at another location in Leuven.

Education

I obtained my bachelor's degree in classical trumpet at the Brussels Conservatory with Manu Mellaerts. After that I continued my studies with an Educational Master in Music and Performing Arts: Specialization Trumpet with Senne La Mela at LUCA School of Arts Leuven.

Experience / Qualifications

In part-time art education I teach trumpet, horn, bugle, cornet and group music and initiation at Academie de Vonk in Oud-Heverlee and GO! Academie Schaarbeek, Huldenberg department. Since September 2024 I also teach introductory brass lessons for the very youngest in Duisburg (Tervuren) at Koperensemble Bravoer.
In recent years I taught at the Conservatory by the Sea in Ostend and the Municipal Conservatory of Bruges.

I am passionate about teaching guitar! Over the last 10 years I have been teaching students from ages 7-70 from complete beginners to advanced players with one thing in common - their wish to play guitar more comfortably and have fun while doing it!

I am a classical guitarist with a background in pedagogy, psychology and physiotherapy, my approach - methodical.
While working on the things you want to improve and learn I will also help you develop a deep understanding of the theory and principles that music is built upon. Our lessons will be exploratory and imaginative whilst also underpinned by technical knowledge so that you can enjoy playing comfortably and without pain.

My aim is to get you to where you want to be playing guitar, whether that be for friends at New Year or on the stage at Carnegie Hall!

Playing the cello is a skill that takes some time to learn. We will get through lots of pieces and do a lot of playing in classes. In some lessons, if necessary, we will learn about music theory as well, which helps us read music better and get to know our pieces better!
