As a violin teacher, my goal is to create a positive learning environment while cultivating the student’s love for music. I believe in developing music-reading as well as ear-training skills in my student’s music education. I work hard to tailor each lesson to meet the individual student’s musical goals, level and learning style. I have experience teaching students from age 3 to adult and from absolute beginner to college-level students. As a conservatory trained violinist, I teach a solid foundation in violin technique, theory and repertoire. I currently maintain a private violin studio in Yokohama and one in my home in Kawasaki. I can teach in both English and Japanese. Learning to play the violin is a lifelong process. Music can lead us to new opportunities, meet interesting people and travel to unique places. Everyone can learn to play the violin. It is never too late to start! I look forward to being a part of you or your child’s musical journey.

Extra information

For students age 3-10 and beginning students of any age, a caregiver is required to accompany the student. For best results, it’s recommend the caregiver participates in lessons until around age 13.

I have been teaching violin for over 17 years. I have experience teaching students from age 3 to adult and from absolute beginner to college-level students. As a conservatory trained violinist, I teach a solid foundation in violin technique, theory and repertoire. I specialize in teaching the violin for every age, both children and adults. I am a professional violin player, with over 40 years of experience and I have been actively performing on Japan's elite music arena. The very unique element of my violin lessons is that unlike other music schools, you will learn how to play violin from a professional musician who is active in Tokyo’s music scene. I also offer students special insight into performance, such as how to interact with the public or how to convey emotion to your audience. I have 10 years of experience in teaching music both in Japan and my native country, Romania.

I offer four types of courses:
1) Introduction Program: My first notes for complete beginners (children or adults) where I teach violin fundamentals.

2) Basic Program for violin beginners and for intermediate violin players who wish to refresh their technical skills. Some of the techniques taught in this program are bow fundamentals, advanced bowing, vibrato, color, and tones, posture, etc.

3) Custom Program: for any type of student, especially when preparing for a music competition, a concert or whether you wish to improve a specific part of your violin technique.

4) Special Program: Gypsy Violin Sound for learning all the valuable insights of the Gypsy style that I acquired throughout his long career as a Django jazz musician. Both amateurs and professional violinists are more than welcomed to take this course. The repertoire will be adapted to your level.

For kids
Violins come in many sizes and it is important to use the correct size to produce pleasing sounds. Yoyogi Uehara Music School carries all sizes of violins.

I am a professional pianist, who have over 20 years experience in teaching piano and music theory.

I teach all ages, beginners to professionals, have many international students, and a class for Associations Franco-Japonais (AFJ), in English, French, and Japanese.

I also prepare students for exams or competitions, such as Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM, ARSM, DipABRSM), and Advanced Placement (AP) Music Theory, etc., and most of my students have achieved with distinction.
