Piano lessons jazz/ classical/ beginner (EN/ DE) from award-winning British pianist
From 56 € /h
As a teacher I enjoy guiding my students down a wide variety of musical paths. Whether it's advanced classical pieces, harmonic concepts, an introduction to improvisation, favourite Joni Mitchell songs or teaching beginners to read music for the first time, I enjoy the variety and find it highly rewarding. I always encourage my students to pursue their individual musical interests, at the same time as bringing my own ideas and experience to the table.
I teach all ages and abilities, on Mondays and Tuesdays (other days by arrangement) at my practice space near Bergmannkiez (Berlin-Kreuzberg). Discounts for people on a low-income/students can be discussed.
I look forward to hearing from you!

About Me
"Mark is an exceptionally gifted pianist and composer, and a remarkable improviser" - John Taylor
Mark is a British pianist and composer based in Berlin, working at the intersection of various forms of composed and improvised music. He is a Yamaha Jazz Scholar, Peter Whittingham Award winner and has performed at numerous prominent locations across the UK, Germany, Denmark, France, Italy, Iceland, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Greece, Sweden, Austria and the Netherlands, including for BBC Radio 3.
Mark works as a leader and side-person in diverse artistic projects internationally, notably his trio Bright Dark, LIUN + The Science Fiction Band with Lucia Cadotsch and Wanja Slavin, prepared solo piano project Verzerren, a duo with violinist Maria Reich, Book of Haikus, his large ensemble A Moveable Feast, Hayden Prosser’s Tether and many more collaborative settings Europe-wide. He has also performed classical works including Olivier Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time.
Mark owes a great deal to the many extraordinary musicians and mentors he was fortunate to encounter during his conservatoire studies in Berlin, Copenhagen, Paris, Amsterdam and Birmingham - John Taylor, Søren Kjærgaard, Harmen Fraanje and Liam Noble to name just a few. Upon completing bachelors studies in Birmingham he was awarded the Jazz Department Performance Prize, the Dean’s Award for exceptional achievement and the Principal’s Prize for outstanding contribution to the life of the Conservatoire.
