Learning about a language is an eternal process, so although Japanese is my mother tongue, there is always something new to learn. For example, sometimes I look up the history of a word or phrase, read about recent changes in Japanese grammar, or study dialects, which are very different from area to area! I have even attending teaching seminars and have taken classes for translation and interpretation to impove my teaching abilities. My lessons are extremely well planned and organized so there’s no time wasted and I enjoy forming a trusting relationship with my students. When students trust their teacher they feel free to ask questions and know that it’s okay to ask the same question repeatedly until they fully understand. Another important feature of my lessons is the quality of my follow-up reviews. My reviews are meticulous, complete with footnotes that offer supplementary information. Because of my detailed feedback students not only learn during my lesson, but after it as well. I’m so happy to know that some of my students print out my reviews and keep them in a folder for self-study! Yu feels like a very experienced girl, she gives you the right kind of attention. Her command and enthusiasm of the Chinese language is out of this world. Not only will she teach you Mandarin very professionally, but she will also explain and give historic reasons for some notions. To put a word or phrase into context is in my opinion a very effective and pleasurable way of learning a new language. Within an hour we made so much progress; something I honestly did not expect. I'm very happy I found her and I'm already hyped for the many lessons to come.
