Trusted teacher: Indonesia, officially the Republic of Indonesia, is a unitary sovereign state and transcontinental country located mainly in Southeast Asia with some territories in Oceania. Situated between the Indian and Pacific oceans, it is the world's largest island country, with more than seventeen thousand islands. At 1,904,569 square kilometres (735,358 square miles), Indonesia is the world's 14th-largest country in terms of land area and world's 7th-largest country in terms of combined sea and land area. It has an estimated population of over 260 million people and is the world's fourth most populous country, the most populous Austronesian nation, as well as the most populous Muslim-majority country. The world's most populous island of Java contains more than half of the country's population. Indonesian is the national language of Indonesia, uniting over 273 million people. Aside from all the regions of Indonesia, it is also spoken in countries such as Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Netherlands, and the USA. Based on the Euro-continental orthography, Indonesian uses the Roman script. It is a relatively young language and is different from Malay, which was widely used until the 1950s. There are as many as 300 distinct ethnic groups in Indonesia who speak Indonesian, and each dialect is unique in its own way. Therefore, a phrase common in one group may have different connotations in another. Not many Indonesians are able to speak English. Consequently, by learning how to speak Indonesian, you will be able to communicate with them more effectively. Whether you are on vacation in Bali or a business trip to Jakarta, knowing how to speak Indonesian will really add to and enrich your experience.

Trusted teacher: This class is the perfect lesson for anybody you wishes to get a taste of the Italian language and culture. Why we'll talk only in Italian? After getting to know you, I will adopt Italian as our main language of communication (any communication: from grammar insights to booking the next lesson) and encourage you to do the same, even if you are new to the language. As a student myself, this has proven to the best way to: Optimize the chances of you listening to the correct pronunciation of words as natives say them; Get you used to the rhythm of the language, its natural flow, and accents; Increment the number of terms you'll be familiar with and so expand your vocabulary organically; Unconsciously assimilate the use of specific expressions and periphrases, so that you will spend less time ponderating "how do Italians say it?"; Most of all, challenge you to do the work and talk or write! So that even when you'll be asking me if I'm available next Tuesday, you'll be improving your Italian. Why I want you to make mistakes? You don't have to be afraid to make mistakes. I instead wholeheartedly invite to make as many as you can. Mistakes are the first symptom that you making an effort to learn. Let's just strive to make a different one each time. Then you'll be really improving! Why I'll make you tell me stories? Be ready to get personal or creative. I will tell you stories, whether they are real (Why I moved to Paris? Which is the last country I visited?) or fictional (Why did Maria stop working in a supermarket?) and ask you to tell me some (What's your favourite place in Italy? How did Margherita get a flu, if she was wearing a scarf?) Stories are the best tool to come across as many new words as possible and articulate your ideas. And most of all, they are essential to creating a bond with your new language. In the end... I will help you find the clearest way to communicate in Italian, with an eye on grammar, syntax and a vast vocabulary. I will tailor each lesson according to your needs and progress, creating unique exercises and challenging scenarios. You will be able to learn anything about Italian culture and quirkiness. (Like, did you know that we Italian always eat with a tablecloth under the plate? Have you heard about Matera, an underestimated gem now part of the UNESCO sites? Did you know that in Italy there are more 32 dialects?) Hoping to meet you soon, Valeria

I am a beginner and had two lessons with Rose. She was extremely helpful with pronunciation, phonetics, and congregations... When I return to Paris I will seek her for further tutoring.
