Trusted teacher: Myself: I have 23 years of experience playing the saxophone and around 15 years of teaching experience, working with both children and adults, beginners, and more experienced players. I believe that, in addition to teaching, it is essential to remain an active and performing musician to ensure that the approach remains fresh and relevant, which I am. I specialise in jazz improvisation, but these skills are transferable to any style you may wish to learn. The primary goal is to become proficient on the saxophone with a strong and beautiful sound, while also mastering the fundamentals. Furthermore, learning music is a joyous and enriching experience, and I am here to help facilitate that. I am also a graduate of the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam as well as Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London). The Lessons: Whether you're a total beginner, looking to refresh your skills, or aiming to progress further, I'm here to help you at every step of your saxophone journey. With experience teaching students of all ages and abilities, my main goal is to ensure that every lesson is enjoyable and tailored to your specific goals and motivations. Specialising in improvisation, I also offer instruction in harmony, music theory, and composition. Overall, my goal is to help you produce a beautiful and personal sound on the saxophone. I take pride in adapting my teaching approach to suit your learning style, ensuring that all information is manageable and understandable at your own pace. I am fully committed to ensuring that the space is welcoming and friendly, as well as being approachable for any thoughts or feelings you may have about the lessons and your progress. Lessons are held at my home in Amsterdam Oost and can be scheduled for 45 minutes, 1 hour, or 1.5 hours. Ideally, we meet weekly or fortnightly to maintain momentum, but I'm also available for occasional top-up lessons.

I am a classical saxophonist and music educator dedicated to sharing my passion for performance and teaching. My journey with the saxophone began at the age of twelve, and over the years I have developed a deep appreciation for both solo and chamber music performance. I strive to inspire my students to combine solid technique with genuine musical expression, helping them build confidence, discipline, and artistry in their playing. #The lessons are highly flexible. You can choose weekly sessions or monthly reviews, and lessons can be 30, 45, or 60 minutes. I offer a wide range of music resources, and you are welcome to bring your own books, pieces, or suggestions. I am based in Ghent, and lessons can take place at my studio or at your location, anywhere in Belgium. The schedule is very flexible and can be arranged according to your availability. I can teach in either English or Chinese. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly. Throughout my career, I have performed in various concert halls such as the Tianjin Grand Theatre and the Tianjin Concert Hall, appearing both as a soloist and as part of saxophone ensembles. I have also received several national awards, including Second Prize at the National Little Golden Bell Wind Competition (2018), First Prize at the China Musicians Association Elite Competition (2019), and the Excellent Award at the “Beautiful Sound of China” National Saxophone Exhibition (2024). Currently, I am continuing my advanced studies at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent in Belgium, working under Professors Koen Maas and Raf Minten. My teaching approach emphasizes clarity of sound, stylistic understanding, and the development of each student’s unique artistic identity.

As a teacher, I always try to focus on what the student is passionate about, while keeping in mind their weaknesses or aversions. When I was a student, the most profound growth I experienced was when I was fully engaged in the act of music making. I want to guide my students along a path to fall in love with music, whatever form that may come in. I know this will be much more valuable than any technique or song I could ever teach them. While I know this is the goal, I am also aware that this won’t happen with every student. Often this process happens further down the line. In those cases I just want them to get the most they can out of music, and enjoy the process of growing as a musician and a person. It is very important to me to teach music to a diverse community of students. This is how I grew up learning music, and it truly is a way of bringing communities together. It has also been my privilege as a teacher to serve many underprivileged communities (as a part of Oakland Summer music, and Oakland Public Conservatory), as I believe everyone deserves access to quality music education. In my private or group lessons, I like to first gauge the students’ listening habits and any music they are listening to. In my experience with younger students, many of them have yet to start listening to music on their own. I try to provide them a space to just listen to music. This way we can work on their technique through music they already enjoy. I will often have them learn songs by ear while also working on some fundamentals such as scales or tonging. We would also work on whatever weaknesses the student may have in their own public music programs or in their other music making. Often that is reading, ear training, or general lack of knowledge. I am always happy to work on these things in a patient but challenging manner. While improvement is the goal, I know first hand that failure is an important and essential part of the learning process.

Eduardo is a good teacher, knows what he is talking about (in my case jazz improv after 20+ years of classical flute). Plus he's a very nice & relaxed guy!
