About Me

I'm Sergio, I live in Venezuela, Caracas. I am a music teacher, I play classical and electric guitar, bass, piano and cuatro venezolano, I speak English with fluency, I am also learning more languages by myself Esperanto, Latin and Japanese. I was a student at Libertador Experimental Pedagogical University, Pedagogical of Miranda José Manuel Siso Martínez in the specialty of Musical Education. I am a native Spanish speaker and I love reading books about universal literature. I have extensive knowledge regarding teaching-learning due to my years of experience teaching and studying in college to train as a teacher. I see languages how they are, a way to communicate with other people, which must be lived through meaningful experiences to connect bio-psycho-socially in a student's learning.

Folk or classical acoustic guitar.

The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation.

For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (...).

For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (...).

Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. The objectives take into consideration the following points:

-Study of various playing techniques, chords, harmony, music of your choice, rhythm, with reading of tablature, teaching structured around the repertoire you like, technique of developing the musical ear
- Discovery of the neck, notes and basic positions of open chords
- Left / right hand coordination and rhythm exercises for the right hand
- Learning of different pieces of your choice
- Left hand control exercises, speed and precision
- Learning arpeggios
- Work around muscle memory
- Learning improvisation, musical play with others

Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me.

Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on.

Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor.

Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing.

No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Adapting to your tastes, we'll go from baroque to blues, from Haydn to bebop... or even Michael Jackson. Why not?

Hi! I am a violinist who just moved here from London. I graduated from the Royal College of Music in London and am currently doing Master of concert at Haute École de Musique de Genève.

I have been teaching intensively since first year of Bachelor and have had students from various age groups with different goals. My main teaching materials are suzuki/abrsm, but I will flexibly accommodate to your needs.
