The foundation of my vocal teaching philosophy is rooted in empowering the human being in front of me through the instruction of the vocal arts. Through my study and professional experience, this process consists of careful attention and detail to the breath and body in physical, mental, and kinesthetic sense; understanding of text and interpretation that comes from an authentic place to heighten the beauty of the voice and clear communication of artistry; tuning carefully my ear to not only what sounds good but also feels good; observing if the singing was done with enough poise, ease, and elegance; yield my students to release any unnecessary and extra efforts while inviting freedom that is calm, collected and dynamic; guide my students to learn how to become their own teacher. This is what I hope to impart to my students. I look forward to passing on my own knowledge but furthermore learning from my future students to become an even better teacher.

Présentation
Greetings!

I am originally from San Francisco, California, and have been based in The Hague now for 3 years. I came here to pursue a life and professional career in Europe as the classical music scene is quite rich here as I have been fortunate to perform recitals and productions in venues like the Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ and Het Concertgebouw. I do love performing and am still very much active as a classical singing actor but I also very much enjoy teaching what I have learned in my own training and from the professional stage. It is very important for me to listen carefully and differently to each student that comes into my studio. Not everyone learns the same so I continue to find many ways to communicate the same method depending on the student in front of me. When singing is free and beautiful, it can be a cathartic and euphoric feeling that I want all of my students to experience. I entrust that taking voice lessons with me will not only improve your singing voice as well as your physical and mental strength and intelligence. I look forward to uncovering your true and authentic timbre and sound!

Singing is fun, singing is easy, singing is good for you.
Discover a healthy way of using your voice and unlock its potential.
My method includes the understanding of how the larynx, jaw and tongue work and can be function freely, and how the breath flow can come through by using the correct support muscles, that we forget how to engage over our adult life, unlike when we were children. This should provide an effortless and beautiful sound that is your own unique voice.

Try it out!
I can help all who are interested in a healthy sound projection and who wish to find they individually in this.

I have a Bachelor in Classical Singing and a Masters in Early Music Singing from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague and 9 years of teaching experience. I am passionate about teaching, helping people achieving their true potential and I having fun doing it.

Employing the voice in a rhythmical sense is not a granted or obvious approach for singers and is sometimes overlooked by instrumentalists. However, a rhythmical foundation developed through the voice is a core element of strong musicianship for everyone in the music sector.

In these lessons, we will practice rhythm through the understanding and utilization of Konnakol (South Indian Carnatic rhythmical solfege) alongside other techniques and approach different ways to conceive of rhythm and integrate it into performance.

We will work on rhythmical freedom, phrasing, grouping and moving patterns, cross-rhythms, odd measures and different 'feels'. You will acquire new ideas, improve your timing, gain independence in your lines and obtain a set of tools to practice self-sufficiently.

"Rhythm through Voice" is designed for both singers and instrumentalists who want to enlarge their spectrum of techniques, and improve their rhythmical awareness.

[For instrumentalists: I will support you to translate and apply these techniques into your instrument]

The lessons will be custom made for each student.
I will work to adapt to your learning rhythm while keeping you challenged at the same time. You will receive regular feedback, advice, and guidance.

Don't hesitate to contact me for more details!

I am a recorder and classical singing student at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague. I have experience with teaching the recorder to students aged 4 to 60 years old.

My lessons are characterized by a relaxed atmosphere and I find it important to listen to the wishes of my students and adapt my lessons to their personal needs. For the younger students, I aim to teach a combination of recorder technique and posture, music theory and singing and stimulate their creativity in a playfull way. In this way they become acquainted with all aspects of music making. I also aim to incorporate ensemble playing in my lessons, together with me or with other students.

Piano is surely amongst the most interesting instrument in the world for a simple reason: compared to the other instruments that are usually limited to one voice, piano uses the ten fingers at the same time, giving hundreds of possibilities of different voicings and harmony.

I am a French student studying in the Hague. My passion has always been piano. I did 9 years in a French music academy where I finished the entire curriculum. I have been teaching piano to 4 students the two last years in London and I am willing to continue transmitting my passion now that I am in the Hague.

I teach piano to people of all age, without omitting to mention a little bit of music theory so that students get a clear understanding of the instrument they are playing. All this in a fun way! For example, understanding and analyzing how modern tubes and hit songs are made is a fun way to learn music without necessarily using a more conventional method. My students can play whatever music they want, from classical pieces, to jazz themes, all the way to modern tic-toc songs, I always let them play what they want. The most important is to enjoy, this is the really key to progress.

Jawa (1996) a Syrian oud player, singer and composer.
I was born in Aleppo, and I grew up in Damascus, Syria. I started playing music at the age of eleven. I chose the Oud as my instrument because my father used to play it everyday at home when I was young. Gradually, I fell in love with it and now I feel an unlimited feeling of freedom while playing it. Graduated from Rotterdam Conservatory in 2021.
