I’m from NYC and grew up speaking English. I don’t know any French! I’ve helped my colleagues edit formal documents, and non-native speakers with grammar, essays, etc. I’ve studied Spanish, Japanese, and Mandarin, and I know what goes into learning!

I obtained a BA degree in English Language and Literature, as well as an English MA degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology at KU Leuven. This academic background has laid the foundation for my theoretical knowledge of the English language, especially my reading and writing skills. Additionally, I spent a semester in Dublin in order to improve my 'hands-on' speaking skills. I have a genuine passion for the English language which I hope to pass on to my students. For my classes, I sit down with students to discuss their needs, and attune my course content accordingly. I try to combine theory with practice to keep the classes interesting and lively. Listening and reading skills are especially important in the learning process as they are essential elements to developing an intuitive sense of a language. Furthermore, I attempt to incorporate audiovisual material in order to keep the course content engaging. I am also always happy to discuss and/or lend English books, graphic novels, podcasts, films, music, YouTube clips etc with/to my students.

As a language, Arabic may seem scary, whether you hear two people speaking it with a bit of an aggressive tone, or see the terrifying Alphabet being used and written in a different direction! However! Fear not! I can assure you, i felt the same way about Dutch, and was terrified to try and articulate the words and their meanings. However, after a year of going through a successful active learning course (which our classes will follow a similiar method to), and enough practice, i could confidently say i can hold my grounds, with the fear of the Dutch language being at bay ! In my 2 years of teaching experience, without the "over-use" of "English or other" languages and starting right from the beginning with Arabic, some students and friends of mine were able to speak Arabic with me, in addition to writing full essays, and even understood the general grammatical structure of the language, all of which took no more than a couple of months. However, it is necessary to keep in mind that Arabic is the second toughest language to learn after Chinese "Mandrin", meaning that expectations should be kept realistic, with time and practice being key.A year should suffice someone to be able to claim that they are at a "A1-B2" LEVEL, which is almost in the intermediate Zone. For our classes, THREE TYPES or METHODS could be chosen from: 1- The active learning extensive Method 2- The "school" Method 3- The "specific university subject tutoring" Method. 1- For the first and second methods, i will usually devise a specialized text book (Word/PDF, no need to hurt trees and print...) which will include all that we need throughout the course from necessary readings, literature, and grammar of the language. this book will be modified accordingly to the purpose of learning the language that you could clarify to me beforehand (whether academic in a specific field of science, or any other purposes...) 2- However, if your goal is purely conversation, and does not include learning proper Arabic (Fusha), the method of teaching differs a little. Here only the "school method" applies. Let me elaborate: In schools, we are taught to read and write "MUM, DAD" before we learn our ABCs, Thus "conversation" will be the main focus, accompanied by brief and on the surface piecing of the principles of the grammar, punctuation, and other related aspects whenever a new one is at hand. 3-Finally, if you are studying any of the Arts or Majors in University, and you need specific help concerning Arabic Subjects (Ba. Master. PHD levels), specific short classes, through the third method, will be offered, and through which we can: answer all your question, explain anything that you are having trouble with, and specific help that could also be offered according to your needs.

*For syllabus, of course, check below Language is an art and culture. This is one of the biggest realizations I have made during my journey to become a polyglot (Until now I'm improving my Dutch, and I know Spanish, English, French, and Arabic). Therefore, I like to share that passion I have through teaching Spanish the most, as it is one of the most beautiful languages I know. I prepared a fun and in-depth course specifically tailored for beginner/intermediate Spanish learners. This course tackles grammatical rules (starting with the present), pronunciations, and differences between Spain and Latin America. Moreover, I also like to teach some interesting facts about numerous Spanish-speaking countries, since as I said, language is culture too. A small overview of my course: My course is divided into 3 phases (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). Kindly note that throughout these courses, always new vocabulary will be taught. Beginner: Greetings, the personal pronouns, the present form, reflexive verbs, numbers from 1 till 1,000, the past simple, imperfect, present perfect, and their different usage. Regular verbs and the three verb forms, important irregular verbs, different usage of some verbs (ser/estar), (traer, llevar) Casual conversations in different scenarios (to present oneself, to ask for directions...) Intermediate: Elaboration on adjectives, adverbs, demonstrative pronouns, personal pronouns, numbers from 1,000+. In-depth into verb conjugations: present perfect, past perfect, conditional. Conjugation in conditional statements. Introduction to the subjunctive that indicates uncertainty, and the imperative that indicates an order. Casual conversations in daily life Advanced: Here, practice will make perfect. Overview of everything learned, with elaboration on tougher verb tenses, such as the present perfect and past perfect in the subjunctive form. More detailed vocabulary.

Hi everyone, I am a Belgian student, currently, I'm in my first master's year at the KULeuven. I chose a master's in 'Rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy specialization musculoskeletal disorders'. During my bachelor years, I developed a very good basic knowledge of science subjects and mathematics: I studied statistics for 3 years, molecular cell biology, chemistry, physics, biomechanics, biochemistry and anatomy. The quality of teaching of both the University of Leuven as the high school I went to (Heilig Hartcollege Tervuren) is something I am very happy/thankful for. I would love to share the education and the knowledge I acquired by supporting and teaching you or your child/teen. I would consider it as a sort of study pathway counseling. As I already have a bachelor's degree in one of the highest-ranked universities in Europe, I have a broad knowledge of quite some subjects. I have a lot of experience working with children and teenagers, I have been a leader in a Scout for children aged 12 to 18. I have also been a tutor for 5 years now. I love working with other people as I am a very social, empathic, and motivated person. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have more questions about the topics and fields of study that I can cover, or if you have a special inquiry I currently live in Belgium. Lessons can be taught in English or Dutch. I hope to meet you soon and start working on enhancing those performances! Kind regards, Natalia

As my goal is to become a teacher, I would like to start by practising with private classes, focused on conversation skills, grammar, vocabulary or whatever the person who wants to learn the language is interested in. I can also help with homework. Besides, if someone is planning on going to study in Spain (Spanish slang would be really useful for you) or maybe just making a trip, I would be really happy to help you find a good level of "español"!
