🎓📜 Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance and Music Pedagogy, Sibelius Academy 2025 🎓📜 Bachelor studies in Saxophone Performance and Music Pedagogy, University of Cologne (Germany) 2022 Diogo is a curious musician, being part of different projects such as the Kaamos Duo (contemporary music for saxophone and soprano singer), chamber music with pianist Lambis Pavlou and Cantus Portugueses (traditional portuguese music with a modern twist). He also plays as a member of the contemporary music groups Korvat Auki and the Nyky Ensemble. His main musical interests at the moment are the collaborations with living composers, chamber music with different ensembles, and interdisciplinary improvisation. Diogo performances have taken place in many venues such as the Philharmonie of Essen, OrchesterZentrum Dortmund, Music Center Helsinki, Turku Castle, Liceu Auditorium Barcelona, Casa da Música do Porto, and many more. Diogo's recognition includes prizes in some international competitions and the recent recognition at the 2022 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy competition for Contemporary Ensembles and the recent participation at the prestigious Josip Nochta Competition in Zagreb, Croatia. Diogo teaches all saxophones and ensemble playing in Portuguese, Spanish, English and German.

In the classes we will address the different elements that make up music in different styles, knowing the particular language of each one. To do this, we will work on the different tools that we have with each instrument at the level at which each one is. We all know music but many times they make us believe that no, that it is necessary to know how to read and write. That is the graphic part of the language that we will learn little by little, music is a compendium of many other things. Some that we already know and others to know. We will study the use of the keys and the positions of the clarinet, or the sax, the best way to position ourselves whether we play standing or sitting, the most efficient way to use the air, the diaphragm, the muscles. We will learn to form a good embouchure and we will develop a study method adapted to each one, according to their tastes, possibilities and interests. I work with boys and girls from different parts of the world as well as with adults and the elderly. In my experience I learned that, truly, the greatest limitation that we find ourselves is the very feeling of not being able, of believing that we cannot. The support of a dedicated teacher is essential to get out of those places where we accidentally enter and that sometimes limit us. We all feel that sometime. It is time for us to remedy it. My name is Nuno and I am a clarinet teacher! I have a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree from the Geneva Music School! I am a clarinet player, graduated teacher and experienced concert performer, I offer clarinet lessons for all levels and different genres (classical music, film music, klezmer music, folk music, electronic music...). I have dedicated myself to perfecting my art under the guidance of internationally renowned artists and I have performed in chamber music groups as well as in orchestra and as a soloist throughout Europe, United States and Japan. We can work together on the instrument, breathing, resonance, mouth, fingers, technique, relaxation, posture, solfège, musical interpretation, stage presence... It is not necessary to know the music theory to start the clarinet, I can follow you from beginner level to preparation for examination and conservatory exams to advanced specialization classes. In my classes, you can learn how to play the Chinese bamboo flute (dizi) or xiao. If you’re interested in orchestral conducting or music theory, I also offer related courses. Bamboo Flute Course: You will learn how to play the Chinese bamboo flute and continuously improve your performance skills throughout the course. You can choose to learn the bamboo flute or xiao and play classical pieces or your favorite songs. Orchestral Conducting: If you need to prepare for related exams or are interested in orchestral conducting, I can help you prepare the necessary repertoire through score reading, analysis, and conducting techniques during the course. The clarinet is a single-reed musical instrument in the woodwind family, with a nearly cylindrical bore and a flared bell. Clarinets comprise a family of instruments of differing sizes and pitches. The clarinet family is the largest woodwind family, ranging from the BB♭ contrabass to the E♭ soprano. The B♭ soprano clarinet is the most common type, and is the instrument usually indicated by the word "clarinet". German instrument maker Johann Christoph Denner is generally credited with inventing the clarinet sometime around the year 1700 by adding a register key to the chalumeau, an earlier single-reed instrument. Over time, additional keywork and airtight pads were added to improve the tone and playability. Today the clarinet is a standard fixture of the orchestra and concert band and is used in classical music, military bands, klezmer, jazz, and other styles.

Besides my career as a freelance clarinetist giving concerts in Belgium and abroad, I have more than 30 years of experience in teaching music. Where I supervise students from 6 years old. To learn the basics, I recommend looking for a clarinet teacher who can guide you in an academy or privately. If you have mastered the basics, or have finished training, I would like to guide you in interpreting the repertoire, or to deal with specific problems such as respiratory problems, staccato, mouthpiece, etc.
