Hello, I'm Petra — a native English speaker and qualified primary teacher with over 30 years of classroom experience in British and international schools. I specialise in literacy development and English as an Additional Language (EAL), helping children build strong reading, writing, and communication skills with confidence. I hold a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) from Kingston University and a BA (Hons) in Humanities from the University of Greenwich, and I am authorised to teach in private schools in the Canton of Vaud. Since 2007, I have worked at Haut-Lac Bilingual School in St-Légier as an EAL teacher and school Literacy Coordinator, supporting multilingual students and children with special educational needs (SEN) alongside my earlier years teaching the full English National Curriculum at primary schools in the UK. What I love most about teaching is that shift in confidence in every lesson. My approach is patient, structured, and warm: I create a calm, encouraging environment where children feel safe to try, make mistakes, and grow. Lessons are always tailored to the individual child, whether that means phonics and early reading, exam preparation, or targeted support for a child who is finding English challenging. I am fluent in French (C1) and understand first-hand what it feels like to learn and teach across languages and cultures — a perspective I bring to every lesson with non-native English speakers and their families. I look forward to helping your child build the English skills and confidence they need to succeed, both in and beyond the classroom.

English is slowly but surely becoming an indispensable language to know. Many opportunities rely on an understanding and ability to speak English. I speak English fluently and have experience in tutoring. I've studied higher-level English for many years and am passionate about English Language and English Literature. I can provide tutoring for younger children to build fluency and promote a bilingual childhood. I am also well-versed in the i/GCSE English curriculum. Of course, my services are available to anyone who would like to learn or improve their English, child or adult. Looking forward to connecting!

Graduated from the University of Teacher Education of Lausanne, native English speaker, holder of the Cambridge C2 Proficiency certificate and English teacher at post-compulsory level, I offer support and English courses adapted to each student. I offer tutoring to secondary school students, high school students, and adults returning to their studies or preparing for a bridging program. At the lower secondary level, I am proficient in almost all subjects. At the post-compulsory level, I can help you with English, history, and Latin. For me, every student is different, which is why I always take the time to understand their needs, goals, and challenges before we begin. I believe that learning happens best in a positive and supportive environment where students feel free to make mistakes and ask questions. My goal is not just to help students get better grades, but to give them the tools and confidence they need to become more independent learners.

Graduate of EPFL in Environmental Sciences and Engineering, with a specialization in water, soil and ecosystem engineering, I offer individualized support to fill gaps in mathematics (analysis, linear algebra, numerical analysis, probability) and/or or in other basic sciences (chemistry, environmental sciences, etc.). As a part-time correspondent for a French-speaking daily newspaper, I can also provide support in French, for all types of editorial work. Having been a regular substitute for almost two years - including five months of class mastery - in a college in the Lausanne region, I know how to demonstrate pedagogy and adapt as best as possible to the difficulties encountered by the students, in order to offer them the method of learning best suited to their needs, all while combining rigor and good humor :)

The courses I offer target the difficulties of the student. My goal is for the latter to gain confidence in their full abilities and feel comfortable with the subject matter that concerns them. To do this, I adapt my explanations, the exercises proposed, my methodology and my pedagogy according to the rhythm, the age and the reasoning of the student. This is why my lessons are prepared to measure with the aim, over a certain number of sessions, of the student's autonomy. Awakening the curiosity of the student, reviving the desire to learn and understand, are important values for me and put into practice in the accompaniment. I offer pedagogical and methodological support for primary and secondary courses on different subjects. For languages, it will mainly be a question of gaining oral fluency, to overcome the language barrier. In writing, in literary matters, it will be a question of acquiring the methodology of composition. For other subjects, such as history, geography, music and mathematics, the courses will be targeted (period, field) in order to gradually gain knowledge. Master student in human sciences, I co-teach at the university. Do not hesitate to write to me if you have any questions, looking forward to reading you and meeting you. Natacha
