Eric - Amsterdam33Fr
Trusted teacher: Dear music lover, My name is Eric and I have been giving guitar lessons in Amsterdam for many years now! I do this on both acoustic and electric guitar. And in various genres: from pop to rock, from blues to funk. The starting point during my lessons is the music that my students like to play. So no boring scales with me, but songs that you choose yourself. In addition, I work on a broad basic technique that is necessary to master the guitar in the right way. Experience has shown that many students can play quite a few songs themselves within a few months. Age and/or experience doesn't matter, my youngest student is 7 years old and the oldest almost 70. If you are interested in taking a lesson (or several of course :-) or if you have any questions you would like to ask, you can always send me a message and I will contact you. I like to hear from you! Regards, Eric Dear music lover, My name is Eric and I have been giving guitar lessons in Amsterdam for many years now! I do this on both acoustic and electric guitar. Hi there, I’ve been playing guitar since I was 12 and was immediately hooked. Within a year I started playing in youth bands and projects, and during high school I moved to a music school where I began performing with bands and teaching guitar to kids as my first job. I later completed two bachelor’s degrees, the second in jazz guitar, at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Since then I’ve been working full time as a session guitarist, songwriter, and musical director with artists like Karsu, Alain Clark, Ruth Jacott, Jennie Lena, and many others, as well as releasing my own music as an independent artist under my stage name Jessy Hay. I’m extremely passionate about music theory, ear training, and music history, and I try to combine all of these with practical approaches to create a complete package for guitar enthusiasts. Over the years I’ve developed many methods and seen hundreds of students grow from being stuck on the instrument to becoming full-on improvisers and composers across many genres. I love to combine the theory and improvisation I’ve learned from jazz, together with the groove and rhythm from funk and soul, the attitude from rock, and the production and songwriting skills from pop music. I’m also very interested in Middle Eastern music, for students who want to explore other scales, Maqams, and musical languages. Lessons usually start by discussing the student’s goals and current level, followed by exercises and pieces tailored to their needs. I also provide guidance on instrument setup, tone, and technique, to ensure a solid foundation. My aim is to give students a full 360° view of music: understanding the language, knowing what you’re doing, and developing your own ways of improving by becoming more familiar with both the instrument and the musical language itself. If this sounds like something for you, I would love to hear from you.

Hi, My name is Sotiris and I’m a guitarist from Athens, Greece. I discovered my passion for the guitar at the age of seven it all started when I first heard Led Zeppelin. That sound pulled me into the world of guitar and soon led me to the blues, where my musical journey truly began.Over the years, I’ve explored many styles, from electric blues, jazz, rock, and pop to acoustic fingerstyle solo guitar. I studied Jazz and Pop Guitar at the HKU Utrechts Conservatorium, where I deepened my understanding of both performance and teaching.I’m currently offering electric and acoustic guitar lessons,as well as music theory. Each student learns differently, so I always adapt my lessons to fit their individual goals, taste, and pace. My aim is to help students grow as musicians, discover their own sound, and enjoy every step of the learning process. Now based in Utrecht, I’m active as both a performer and teacher, constantly inspired by the connection between creativity, expression, and learning. My teaching covers a broad range of elements, from jazz, blues, pop, and rock on electric guitar to fingerstyle, blues, folk, pop, and different tunings on acoustic guitar. I teach all levels:from beginners taking their first steps to advanced players looking to explore creative approaches and develop their own musical voice. Having played in bands and studied at the HKU Conservatorium, I enjoy sharing both practical experience and musical ideas with my students. For me, teaching is more than just sharing skills it’s about creating a friendly, inspiring environment where students can have fun, explore, and grow at their own pace. Whether you want to learn songs, improve technique, try improvisation, or experiment with sound, I’m here to help you reach your musical goals. About Online Lessons Professional equipment is used, including microphones for optimal sound quality. Language Requirements: Currently learning Dutch, but for now, students must understand English.
Guitar
Hello, my name is Marlou. I was nine years old when I first held a guitar. It was love at first sight. I always have my guitar with me. I've been teaching for ten years, and after a year of lessons, one of my students uttered the unforgettable line: "My guitar is my soulmate." With a guitar, you have a friend for life. I want everyone to experience that. Everyone learns differently. Some people want to learn notes and visualize sheet music, while others play by ear. Some want to hear a song first and sing it without a guitar, while others want to play along right away. It's all possible. In your first lesson, you can tell me what you want to learn, and I tailor my lessons accordingly. After each lesson, I'll give you exercises to practice at home. The more you practice at home, the faster we'll progress. If you'd like, you can record the lesson so you can listen to it again at home and practice along with it. I'll teach you all the basic chords. I'll pay close attention to your guitar posture and the way you place your hands and fingers on the guitar. The better you master the basic chords, the easier it will be to learn new and more complex things later. I can also teach you how to strum the guitar. And if you're interested, I can teach you how to read music. If you'd like to learn to sing while you perform, I can teach you simple tricks to make singing easier. I'm not a singing teacher, but thanks to my initial training in speech therapy, CVT (Complete Vocal Training) singing lessons, and my stage experience as a singer, I have extensive knowledge of learning proper breathing and training your breath support. I can also teach you how to overcome your shyness, if that's your problem. Playing and singing at the same time will then become a lot of fun.

Students have different aspirations and needs, but in my lessons we can focus on rhythmic variation, tempo, comping, improvisation, ear training, chords, phrasing, articulation, expression - all while learning repertoire. That is how it all comes together, therefore I encourage my students to learn their favourite songs and also repertoire that will strengthen less strong areas of their playing. This means if you want to learn how to play pocket we focus on funk rhythms, if you want to learn how to play straight groove we focus on bossa or latin etc. With a Bachelor in Jazz Guitar in the pocket - that’s what I mostly play, we can dig into chord melody, single line playing, repertoire and comping in a variety of styles within the jazz idiom. The first lesson will be a checkup where you are as a student in your musical development, thereafter I will ask about your goals and aspirations and what you’re currently doing to reach them. My role is to oversee this process and share what has helped me in my musical development. I believe instrument lessons need to be practical and be based off concrete exercises that will help you reach the next level. For something to manifest into your playing you have to first get whatever you’re learning into your muscle memory - practice slowly with metronome, continuous repetition over a period of time, then the brain have a greater chance of obtaining the skill. Second step is to gradually increase the tempo and play with a good time feel, by doing this you will have what you’ve learnt in your hands. There are no shortcuts when learning a skill, you simply cannot buy it - you have to earn it!
