Lena - Geneva26Fr
Trusted teacher: 你好! I am Lena. I hold a bachelor's degree of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, and I did my Master degree in Social Science in the UK. I am now currently doing an internship in Switzerland. My experience working and studying in different continents enabled me to understand different languages, and spread Chinese culture and language among my international friends. Chinese is a charming language with substantial historic and cultural contexts. If you feel like learning Mandarin, practice to get emotionally and situationally involved in the language is one of the most effective approach. In this way, you’ll remember things a lot better if you feel it when you learn it. This isn’t only my experience. In the courses, I will be able to provide suggestions for suitable learning materials, and help you to find a approach that suits you to improve your spoken Chinese. The content of the course will be designed based on your practical use and interest, and I will combine the most interesting and trendy issues with the topics to enable an enjoyable learning experience. The course could be delivered both online of offline (If you are currently in Geneva). Besides the mentioned above, I am very keen on discussing about the food, history, tourist attractions, and other cool stuffs in China, as well as my own interesting experiences in different countries. I also have knowledge and experience of Chinese Calligraphy, and it could be introduced and practiced in the courses too. If you are interested, feel free to ask a question or send me a message. Let's break down learning Mandarin while making new friends!

Trusted teacher: Hey! I am Yu. Nice to meet you! This lesson can help you set out to learn how to speak Hanyu, read and write Zhongwen. For this purpose, you will study Chinese alphabet (Hanyu Pinyin), characters(Hanzi), vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, and common words and phrases. If you want to learn the Chinese language, you've found the right class! Course materials can be: -Standard Course HSK (for language ability test) -Experiencing Chinese (for immersive classes) -AP Chinese -....... -any tailor-made materials that interest you This course is designed in three versions for different kinds of participants: 1) A Beginner! - Have little or no prior knowledge of the Chinese language; - Want to learn how to make yourself understood in Chinese when traveling, for example, understanding and speaking common everyday words (and sentences) in different typical scenarios ; - Hope to express 1-10 and some larger numbers in China in speech or by gesture decently. *Some examples at this stage: - Hello! Thank you. How are you? - Sorry. / You're welcome! - I can speak Chinese! What's your name? - What's the date today? What's the time now? - I'd like a cup of coffee. Is this seat free? - (and other current Chinese usages in any scenarios you're interested in! Definitely I can teach you fast haha) **Naturally, pronunciation and the four vowel tones are an important part of the lessons, but participants also learn the principles of Chinese writing and gain an understanding of Chinese culture! 2) An Intermediate Learner - Have upper-intermediate knowledge of Chinese; - Need to increasingly enhance our active language skills, to expand your vocabulary, practice reading without Pinyin, and master more advanced grammar and fixed structures to be able to make longer sentences; - Interest yourself in being able to express your views on common everyday topics, like foods, drinks, gifts, weather, Chinese habits, and common practice. 3) An Advanced Learner - Can speak and understand Chinese reasonably well; - Attempt to deepen your understanding of Chinese culture and learn more advanced grammatical constructs to communicate more specific and complex ideas in Chinese, both verbally and in writing; - Focus on topics dealt with leisure and hobbies, hospitality, culture, arts, poetry, history, dynasties and civilization, of modern and ancient China. ***I have lived in China for over twenty years, traveled to many cites (including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hongkong, Macau and so on), and was educated at respected schools and universities. Currently, I am studying Social Sciences in the Netherlands and I am a fan of Chinese literature/Japanese anime/Marvel films, so it's also welcome that you would like to have an informative and interesting talk in Chinese about these topics. +China captures the imagination with its fascinating contrasts. A modern-day global economic entity that proudly upholds ancient traditions. Definitely, a good way to start learning more about China is by taking Chinese! (K-12 Math tutoring class in English/Chinese is offered as well.)

Yu
Yu feels like a very experienced girl, she gives you the right kind of attention. Her command and enthusiasm of the Chinese language is out of this world. Not only will she teach you Mandarin very professionally, but she will also explain and give historic reasons for some notions. To put a word or phrase into context is in my opinion a very effective and pleasurable way of learning a new language. Within an hour we made so much progress; something I honestly did not expect. I'm very happy I found her and I'm already hyped for the many lessons to come.

Rachel
Rachel is a very good Mandarin teacher and I would strongly recommend her. I am a beginner and so far I have had five 90 minute lessons. In each one she has struck a very good balance between enough difficulty for me to learn quickly whilst being supportive and keeping my motivation high. Therefore I am very pleasantly surprised with how much I have managed to learn in such short a timespan :)

Léa
Lea is an excellent teacher. Her class was very organized and her explanations were very clear. She is a serious teacher, but kind and encouraging at the same time. Lea makes sure her students understand the work, have the correct pronunciation and know how to write the characters correctly. If you want to learn Chinese, I highly recommend Lea.
