Art History: Learn to look at, understand, and analyze art.Translate this text using Google Translate.

Do you struggle to identify styles, artists, and works? Do you feel overwhelmed by the number of dates, movements, and characteristics to memorize? I will help you study Art History in a clear, visual, and understandable way, placing the works within their historical, cultural, and social context. I offer private Art History lessons for high school and university students, as well as support for students who need to reinforce knowledge related to art, culture and the Humanities. My goal is not for you to memorize a list of styles and characteristics, but rather to learn to observe a work of art, identify its main elements, analyze it, and relate it to its era and context. In this way, the study of art becomes meaningful, and it becomes much easier to remember and understand the material. How can I help you? Art History for High School. Support in university subjects related to Art History and Humanities. Exam preparation and subject recovery. Study and understanding of the main artistic styles and movements. Architecture, sculpture and painting. Analysis and commentary on works of art. Identification of characteristics, authors, periods and styles. Preparation of comments and image analysis. Historical, cultural and social contextualization of the works. Organization of extensive syllabi and study techniques. Preparation of academic papers and presentations. I hold a degree in Humanities, with a broad and multidisciplinary background in History, Philosophy, Art, Culture, and Thought. I also have a teaching degree and teaching experience, which allows me to adapt both the content and the way I explain it to the level and needs of each student. My background in the humanities allows me to approach art not as an isolated succession of works and styles, but as an expression of each society and each era. We will understand what is represented, how it is represented, and, above all, why it is done in that way.

Learn the 108 Karanas of Natyashastra – Bharatanrityam TrainingTranslate this text using Google Translate.

The 108 Karanas described in the Natyashastra represent one of the oldest and most sophisticated movement systems in the world. They form the foundation of Indian classical dance traditions and continue to inspire dancers, scholars, and choreographers today. This course is designed for serious Bharatanatyam practitioners who wish to move beyond repertoire and explore the deeper movement vocabulary preserved through the Bharatanrityam tradition of Padma Vibhushan Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. Students will develop a practical and theoretical understanding of the Karanas, their constituent elements, and their application within the broader framework of the Natyashastra. The training emphasizes precision, coordination, body awareness, and the seamless integration of movement principles that enrich both performance and teaching. Classes are conducted by Kum. Naveena Muthukrishnan, a direct disciple of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam, with over 20 years of training in Bharatanatyam and Bharatanrityam. What You Will Learn • Bhedas and their role in movement articulation • Nritta Hastas and their practical application • Charis and movement pathways • The 108 Karanas and their execution • Movement transitions and coordination techniques • Bharatanrityam movement principles • Theoretical foundations from the Natyashastra • Applications relevant to performance, teaching, and research Suitable For • Bharatanatyam dancers with 6+ years of training • Dance teachers and choreographers • Advanced students preparing for examinations, higher studies, or research • Practitioners interested in Bharatanrityam and the Natyashastra tradition

Gemma was a wonderful teacher. Her and I walked around Florence while she was simultaneously teaching me Italian. Her easy going and positive attitude made learning fun while also being very substantial. Gemma is super patient, and after the second day I could construct longer, more complicated sentences. I had mentioned some struggles I have had within schooling where I struggled with pronouns and prepositions, and by the first day I could do it easy no problem due to her explanations being very good. Overall I Gemma is a very good tutor and I highly recommend her.

My dance teacher (akka) is very kind in explaning the meanings and jestures before the dance posture. This is so very helpful in understanding and expressing them in form of dance. Iam so excited to see whats in store in the next classes. Thank you team Narthana.
