Learn Ableton Live and music production through practical, project-based one-on-one lessons built around the music you actually want to make. We can work directly on your own tracks, recordings, arrangements or specific problems you want to solve. Depending on your level and goals, lessons can cover Ableton Live workflow, MIDI and audio editing, recording, synthesis, sampling, sound design, arrangement, mixing, effects, automation and developing a track from an initial idea to a finished piece of music. As a professional composer with a Master's degree in Composition and seven years of teaching experience, I can also help with composition, harmony, melody, rhythm, orchestration and music theory whenever these are useful to your production. I teach complete beginners as well as experienced producers who want to improve their workflow, develop their musical ideas, solve technical problems or receive detailed professional feedback on their work. There is no rigid curriculum. We identify what you want to achieve and build the lessons around your projects and goals.

For me, lessons are not about rushing through theory or trying to sound “correct” as quickly as possible. They’re about finding what excites you, understanding the music you already love, and building the skills to play, create, and express yourself with confidence. Lessons can focus on one area or combine things naturally — for example, learning guitar while writing your own songs, or using Ableton to develop an idea into a full arrangement. My goal is to keep music curious, practical, and enjoyable, and to help each student find their own way into it.

Complete beginners are very welcome. You do not need previous production experience or music theory. Whether you are opening Ableton for the first time, struggling to finish tracks, or already producing and want to improve your sound, I tailor each lesson to your level, musical taste, and goals. We can work on Ableton Live, MIDI, sampling and workflow; turning loops into finished tracks; arrangement and song structure; sound design, synthesizers and effects; mixing and mastering; developing your own sound; detailed feedback on your productions; and practical advice about releases, labels, DJing and the music industry. The lessons are practical and centred on your own music. We can work directly on your projects or build a track together from scratch. I am Lars, an international DJ and music producer with more than 25 years of experience. I have released music on labels including Golden Recordings, Mobilee, Nervous, Katermukke, Stil Vor Talent and Kittball, worked with Boris Dlugosch and Phil Fuldner, and produced remixes for Purple Disco Machine and Claptone. I have performed at venues and festivals including Watergate Berlin, Pacha Ibiza, Printworks London, Tomorrowland and Fusion Festival. Lessons are available in English or German via Zoom with screen sharing and high-quality audio.

Would you like to learn how to make relaxed lo-fi beats, how to incorporate your own guitar or melody ideas into Ableton, or are you looking for someone to take a look at your projects in an approachable way? I would be happy to help you with this! Under the artist name Vidalima, I have been making lofi and chill music in Ableton myself for a few years. I release my tracks on Spotify (with over 2 million streams in the past year) and through various lofi labels. I know how difficult it can be when you are just starting out, get stuck in the software, or don't quite know how to make a beat sound 'warm' and atmospheric. We take a practical and relaxed approach. No complicated theory, just tinkering with your songs together. What we can get started with: Tinkering together in Ableton: Handy tips and clever tricks to develop your ideas faster and get that chill vibe in your projects. From idea to complete track: How to turn a loose guitar riff, sample, or catchy beat into a full-fledged lo-fi song that flows nicely. Making it sound warm & spacious: Listening to your track together and using simple basic steps (such as volume, EQ, and balance) to ensure your beat sounds clear and warm. Sharing experiences with lofi releases: I enjoy sharing my own experiences as Vidalima regarding finishing tracks, uploading to Spotify, and contacting lofi playlist curators, other artists, and labels. Whether you have just installed Ableton or already have a few sketches lying around that you are stuck on: we will look at what you need together, at your own pace!
