Woodwind Performance, Improvisation, Jazz Composition, and Music Theory with Chris Translate this text using Google Translate.

Woodwind Performance, Improvisation, Jazz Composition, and Music Theory with Chris Translate this text using Google Translate.

Chris is a New York City-based multi-instrumentalist. A passionate composer and improviser, he has performed as a leader and sideman throughout New York, Boston, Colorado and abroad over the past 15 years. Chris attended the Manhattan School of Music (MM ‘25) and the New England Conservatory of Music (BM ‘23). He has taught privately and within public schools over the past eight years, and loves to help students cultivate their passion for music and instrumental performance. Students can choose to focus entirely on their instrument (saxophone, clarinet, and flute), or can specifically study improvisation, jazz composition, music theory, and ear training. While primarily a jazz musician, Chris is trained in a wide variety of musics including classical, which he diligently studied on the clarinet; popular music and R&B; and world musics, including Brazilian (Choro/Bossa/Samba), Latin-American (Bomba/Timba/Rumba), and West-African styles (Agbekor/Gahu). Some of Chris's many accomplishments include being recognized as a YoungArts Jazz Performance winner for four years in a row; performing abroad in Europe with the inaugural NYO Jazz Band, receiving a Community Performances and Partnerships Ensemble Fellowship at New England Conservatory, and also receiving the George Whitefield Chadwick Medal of musical and academic performance. Chris emphasizes a teaching approach that prioritizes connecting with the student and engaging them in what they’re specifically interested in, while also covering the fundamentals essential to developing ones skills on their instrument or in their field of study. He offers lessons in person, primarily at students's personal residences, and also online via Zoom, Google Meet, or FaceTime (although in person is highly recommended).

Flute lessons for students of all ages and experience levelsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

I love helping flutists of all levels set and achieve their goals. My teaching is focused on building a strong foundation of fundamental skills, getting curious about music and flute playing, and learning how we can tell our stories through music. A bit about me: Hailed by Gramophone as a “sensitive and virtuoso performer,” flutist Kaleb delights audiences with his commanding presence, brilliant technique, and thoughtful interpretations. Is an active solo and orchestral musician, and has performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, and the Grammy Award winning Albany Symphony Orchestra. He appeared as a soloist and as the conductor of the Colorado Flute Orchestra at the 2017 National Flute Association convention. Awards and honors are First Prize at the Bruce Ekstrand Memorial Competition, The MPIMC Prize at the Marina Piccinini International Masterclass, Winner of the Tuesday Musical Association’s Competition, and Winner of the Baldwin Wallace Concerto Competition. He has appeared as a concerto soloist with the Baldwin Wallace Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dwight Oltman and twice with the University of Colorado Early Music ensemble, working with Music Directors Zachary Carrettin and Robert Hill. As a teacher and clinician, has been on the faculty of the Baldwin Wallace Community Music School and The Joyful Noise Neighborhood Music School. Received his Bachelor’s degree from the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Colorado Boulder, where he was a graduate Teaching Assistant, member of the graduate woodwind quintet, and lead TA for the College of Music. His principal teachers include George Pope, Christina Jennings, Damian Bursill-Hall and Andrei Pidkivka. His other significant influences have been Brook Ferguson and Amy Porter. Debut album, Grieg: Violin Sonatas for Flute, with pianist Nathália Kato, is available from MSR Classics.

Flute lessons for all levels and ages (also in Spanish)Translate this text using Google Translate.

Hello! My name is Nuriam i'm Spanish, and I offer flute lessons to students of all levels and ages. The lessons are in English or Spanish . The repertoire to work on covers all the periods of Classical Music history, from 17th Century to our days. I have a Master degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and recently I obtained my second Bachelor degree, specialised on Early Music Performance at the same school, studying traverso (baroque flute). As a flute teacher I have got several years of experience, and teaching is one of my passions. I always find a great source of inspiration and knowledge in every student I have. My lessons do not only have a technical approach: besides, they constitute a continuous search of the best way to give musical expression to our flute performance and knowing ourselves as individuals, as artists. My schedules are very flexible, so we can plan the lessons every time if that suits you better. We will work individually, so the lessons are adapted to each student's progress and character. But music is a social activity, and this means that concerts can be organised, and there is always the chance to play some chamber music! Each sudent is different. We will determine the lesson length depending on your needs and preferences. Contact me for more information

Flute Lessons For Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced StudentsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

Flute Lessons For Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced StudentsTranslate this text using Google Translate.

This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute. Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student. Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams. Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music. Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.

Returning to flute playing after a long gap, Heather was super patient and very helpful with technical tips to get my playing back to a better standard . I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to the pieces she gave me to practice and my next lesson. Professional but relaxed and fun.

Daniel is a very good and patient teacher. He is a very skilled musician, he plays various instruments but saxophone is his very favourite. I highly recommend to take saxophone lessons from him. He is a thorough gentleman and excellent teacher.

Hugh has a lovely manner. He is very thorough. He taught me how to handle a flute properly so as not to damage it. He gave me exercises to improve the sound of my flute. He is very encouraging. I wish I’d had him as a teacher years ago!
