Trusted teacher: Hi there! My name is Norica. I am a pianist and a piano teacher from Tokyo. Just quickly to the point: My approach is holistic and systematic. It uses lots of fun exercises and nice educational materials from Japan in addition to the Internationally recognized standard books. (Don't worry, you don't have to understand Japanese!) You learn not only how to play piano but also how music works- music theory. I know what my students are good at and not so good at right off the bat. That's why I can tailor the lesson plans to their goals and needs. Also, if you like to take an ABRSM exam, the syllables will be tailored accordingly. So what will be tested on the day of the exam is integrated into the lessons and my class/lesson offers all-round preparation for the exam. I have helped my students pass G1, 3, 5 and 6 with a good score. Another important aspect of my lesson is to focus on improving cognitive skills - increasing memory, right-hand-left-hand-coordination, sustained attention, nonverbal communication, and a feeling of independence and freedom. I do so with unique materials from Japan and fun training. Currently students from 4 to 75 years old are taking my lessons. My lessons focus on developing body, muscle, and vocal awareness, which helps us perceive and consider our bodies as musical instruments. My teaching method is the result of the synthesis of my experience as a singer and the many and diverse study paths followed. The lesson is structured in two parts: the first half devoted to vocal technique, the second half to the musical repertoire and learning the musical language (jazz or pop or other genre). The vocal technique that I propose is a basic technique for all types of modern singing: from postural education to the care of breathing, from the use of abdominal muscles, to the emission of air to the resonance cavities. We will work on the sound, on the extension of the voice, on the high and low notes, on the passage of register, on the control, on the power and agility. From a repertoire perspective, the lessons will be tailored to the student's needs and interests, with an emphasis on proper stage presence and posture. I contacted Caroline just 2 weeks before my ITNA-test appointment. I booked 20 hours (mostly in chunks of 120min) and she was wonderful and very patient (I tend to ask a lot of questions)! I fully believe these 2 weeks of intensive lessons were pivotal in passing the test (she has a lot of material). Not only that, but now I really just feel more comfortable using more complex sentence structures in my day-to-day. Caroline was a perfect fit for me and I would highly recommend giving her a try!

Norica as friendly and welcoming to my daughter for her first lesson. Norica was very familiar with material my daughter is practising for grade 3 certificate. Norica also appreciate the importance of ensuring that Piano is a joyful experience so is keen to mix up the songs as well as following the standard pieces.

The best teacher I have ever had! He really works with every student the way it works best for them, instead of best for him. We've worked on biochem for 3-ish months and I've hated the subject and couldn't bring myself to even open the book and with him I passed my exam with a 85%. Can only recommend!!
