Hello,

My name is Philipp, I am from Germany and I was born in 1990. I play about 120 concerts a year. I can´t wait to share my experience with you.

I´m a Teacher at the University of Music in Leipzig. Teaching Drums for 10 years on all levels. There´s nothing better than watching a student grow.

In my class, you are the main character. You decide the tempo and the style of the lesson, but maybe it´s good to see another side as well:)

Education

University of music, diploma, musics school, I did a lot of wokshops, like tuning the drumset, free improv and how to develop your own voice. Last years I toured the world to discover new music from several countries.

The drums are an extremely versatile instrument. The number of musical interpretation possibilities on this tool is endless. Whatever your level and style, my lessons will allow you to develop a solid technique and at the same time your musical awareness, in order to become a drummer at ease with any type of situation.

I specialize in Afro-Latin percussions, in particular Cubans and Colombians, I invite you to discover this fascinating world of traditional and popular rhythms that I was able to learn during my travels and studies in Latin America and France.

I offer drums lessons in a warm place or at your home. Come and discover the battery differently. My mission is to help you develop your own identity on the instrument. I offer you a fun approach that focuses on the pleasure of playing.

Having followed training and courses throughout my life (conservatory, schools ...), I am passionate and dedicated to sharing all of my experience with you. I practice in many music groups and other structures (schools, associations ...).

With more than 20 years of experience in drums and more than 10 years in percussion, I teach many musical genres (jazz through Latin music, pop, hip hop, rock, hard, punk, metal ..) , the double pedal, notions of music theory, rhythmic reading. Possibility of taking percussion lessons (darbuka, bongos, African djembe, congas, jaw harp, dhol).

The programs are directly inspired by internationally recognized methods, thus being able to adapt to the needs, levels and requirements of each individual. I travel but I also receive in a room with equipment available (any age and level of practice are allowed, from initialization to professionals).

A different approach to music lessons:
My teaching is resolutely modern. Classes are a moment of musical and human sharing where error is used as a positive experience to move forward.

We work by oral transmission to complete the scores. We use onomatopoeia to quickly develop musical and felt play, rather than just reading and playing.

The course method, inspired by the Agostini school (French method used in French and Belgian academies and conservatories) is divided between technique and drums. At the rate of one session each we will focus once on technique and movements outside the drums (on pads) and the other time on the drums and the application of technique and movements.

-> The technique lessons and the movements will be those of the so-called 'Moeller technique' that I learned through his direct lineage of student.
-> The drum lessons are greatly inspired by the pedagogy of the M.A.I. (Music Academy International - Nancy (fr)) and in particular that of Richard-Paul Morellini, renowned instructor.

The courses are complete, in-depth but above all specifically thought of to be progressive. They are suitable for children from 7 years old as well as adults of all ages.

=> Particular attention is paid to the movements and their correct application, to the total independence of the limbs and finally to an understanding of the rhythm and its theory. My main goal is to give the student complete control behind the drums and skills to be able to self-learn any piece in any musical style. 1 hour of weekly lessons are never enough, they should only be used to fuel the passion that will make you play at home more and more.

On demand or for advancs students:
- I am very passionate about the study of South American rhythms. Due to their complexity, apart from the samba and Baïon ostinatos, they are not included in the program before the advanced level. They can be at the request of the student.
- I am also specialized in metal (musical style) and double pedal. The latter is not included in the program unless requested by the student. The double pedal courses are based on the methodology of Virgil Donati.

Technique:
* Moeller technique (the 'whipping motion' - the Free stroke -Full/Half/Low stroke - accepting the rebound - its application etc.)
* Snare rudiments and their applications through reading systems
* Readings of scores and exercises for the snare drum
* Speed drills
