⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 💻 Videoconference courses, from the orientation cycle to the final year of high school. There's a phrase I hear in almost every first session: "In class I understand, but when I'm faced with the worksheet I don't know where to start." It's not a question of academic level. It's that no one has ever taught students to recognize the type of problem they're facing. One function exercise looks like another, but the method isn't the same—and until this sorting happens automatically, each exercise starts from scratch. This sorting is what I work on first, even before reviewing the lesson. 🎓 I hold a Master's degree in Operations Research (applied mathematics) and have been tutoring mathematics for 5 years. I have worked with numerous students in the Swiss system, as well as in French, Belgian, and international programs. 📚 What I cover, canton by canton The vocabulary varies from one canton to another, so let's be precise: ✏Geneva and Fribourg — orientation cycle (grades 9 to 11 HarmoS), preparation for entry into secondary school, then the four years of secondary school up to graduation ✏Vaud — pre-gymnasium and general tracks, preparation for the ECR exams, transition to gymnasium, then the three years of gymnasium ✏Neuchâtel — cycle 3, then high school ✏Valais — orientation cycle, then college Preparation for the Matura exam, all specific options 🔍 How I work 1️⃣ The first sessions are mainly aimed at assessing the level of the student in order to identify the shortcomings observed. 2️⃣ Then we make a plan to fill those gaps: number of hours of work needed, parts of the lessons to focus on, lots of training and development exercises, etc. 3️⃣ We make sure to stay in regular contact with the student's class teacher to monitor their progress and align our work with what is being taught in class. 4️⃣ Then I provide exams similar to what may be offered in class. 5️⃣ Upon request, I write a monthly report to keep parents informed of their child's level throughout the course. ✨ Why this profession My favorite moment is when a student starts explaining their approach aloud without me having asked anything. It means they're no longer trying to guess what I expect—they're thinking. The rest always follows. 🗣️ Lessons in French or English. Response within the day. An initial exchange of approximately 20 to 30 minutes maximum will be free: I prefer to understand the situation before proposing anything.

FOR WHOM, FOR WHAT: This course aims to provide a framework for the preparation of future students at EPFL. Many students are preparing for the start of the new school year at EPFL, but many of them are lost and don't know where to start. Some drag gaps from gymnasium/college with them, which prevent them from starting to learn/relearn math and physics and prepare well for the start of the school year. In this course, I propose to supervise the student in his preparation. This course is adapted to the level in mathematics (standard and advanced) and physics (standard) of all sections of EPFL*. CONTENTS : The course aims to adapt to the needs of the student. In particular, it is common to: - resume gym/college classes -identify and address remaining gym/college gaps - Fly over new subjects (the goal being not to be surprised when introducing them to the university) -Work on certain subjects in advance -Develop a work strategy and get organized -Share experience/give advice -Present the exam modalities (within the limits of my knowledge) Note that the courses are flexible. Videoconference preparation for the Swiss supplementary examination (ECUS) and first-year mathematics at EPFL. The ECUS is not a school exam. It's an entrance exam, with a specific syllabus, a set format, and a time constraint that eliminates perfectly competent candidates. Preparation, therefore, doesn't consist of reviewing course material, but of rebuilding a foundation and practicing in the actual exam format. Master's degree in Operations Research (applied mathematics), more than five years of private tutoring, including mentoring foreign students preparing for their entry into the Swiss system. What I cover ECUS — comprehensive mathematics program, practice with sample exams, time management EPFL's Special Mathematics Course (CMS) Refresher courses before the first year of university or college: analysis, linear algebra, probability Refresher courses for candidates who have been out of the school system for several years Method An initial assessment is conducted to determine the student's actual level in relation to the exam requirements, followed by a detailed study plan: number of hours needed, priority chapters, and a timeline leading up to the exam date. Each session combines targeted review of theoretical material with practice exercises in the exam format. I work with candidates who are starting from scratch as well as with students who want to secure their first year.
