I have taught privately and at language schools like La Scuola Italiana del Greenwich Village in New York and ItalCultura, the school of the Italian Cultural Institute of Chicago. During the first few lessons I will make sure you have the tools to pronounce and identify all the sounds of the Italian language. This step is essential! And it will make everything easier afterwards. When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. We will use real songs, real literature, do real conversation and storytelling. When you are engaging all your senses it is easier to keep your mind relaxed and to remember new words. I will customize my materials to your interests, needs and desired pace. And because you are learning from a native Italian you will also learn about Italian culture and history. You will absorb a way of thinking, not just grammar rules. I speak a bunch of languages so I know a thing or two about how tedious language classes can be. My terrifying French teacher in middle school made us repeat the same fake dialogue from a really bad book ad nauseam, over and over and over again. Some of those dialogues are carved in my brain: “Bonjour, je m’appelle Richard Drapeau, je viens du Canada, je suis Canadien...” When I teach Italian I try to avoid all the things that I hated as a language student. Hiyam is probably the best teacher I have ever had, and I am 49 years old, have a Masters degree in Physics and can speak 4 languages, so have been learning all my life. After only 2 lessons, it is obvious that she is engaging, fun, and has immense knowledge about Arabic language as well as of learning methodologies. What's even better, she adapts her teaching methods to the student, so that he or she can find their way around the complexities of learning one of the hardest languages in the world. 💯% recommend for all and any levels. Just one condition: because she is mother of 4 children and has a full time job as teacher in a school, she can't waste time in the awful traffic of Riyadh, such a big city with probably the worse traffic jams in the middle east, so she won't commute for you. You must go to her, or do it online. It's totally worth it.

Germán is a great teacher and also fun to work with. He first carefully diagnoses strengths and weaknesses and then designs tailored exercises around the learning needs and gives concrete feedback and shares vocabulary tips. If you search someone to better understand homework/grammar exercises or someone for stand-alone private classes, German is your guy for both. He can explain grammar or improve conversational skills. Before our private lessons, I took courses at the Cervantes institute and my professor there also respected him a lot for his teaching methods and knowledge.
