Hi! I’m Jennifer, a Japanese teacher with over 5 years of experience teaching private students, company clients, and small groups (up to 9 people). I’ve helped many learners successfully pass JLPT N5, N4, and N3.

About Me

I’m a curious, open-minded, and passionate teacher who truly enjoys helping people grow through language. With a multicultural background and a love for communication, I bring patience, structure, and positivity into every lesson. I enjoy creating a supportive space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and discovering not just the language—but also the deeper cultural layers that come with it. Outside of teaching, I’m always learning something new myself—whether it’s a language, a recipe, or a perspective. I believe that learning should feel meaningful, personal, and even a little fun!

Education

Through my MSc in Business Administration at ZHAW, I developed a strong foundation in management and leadership, with a research focus on startups. During my bachelor’s in Media and Communication, I also studied Psychology and Pedagogy to better understand learning processes and human behavior. These interdisciplinary insights help me design engaging lessons that support motivation, memory, and confidence.

Experience / Qualifications

I have over 5 years of experience teaching Japanese and German to both private students and groups, including at institutions such as Academia Languages, D-Schule, and the International Language School.

In addition, I bring more than 4 years of consulting experience with international clients in the language education and airline industries, which allows me to adapt my teaching to diverse goals and cultural backgrounds.

I also have a background in journalism and media production, creating content for international audiences – an experience that enriches my teaching with strong storytelling, communication, and intercultural skills.

I propose a course in Japan, including grammatical and vocabulary skills – two difficult and frequent phrases – in the language parlée. The object of the course is an exception to the aspects of language techniques without being a theoretical or academic subject.

Pendant les cours, je combine l'aspect théorique de la langue, indispensable pour parler correction, avec l'aspect pratique, qui permet de s'exprimer de manière compréhensible et d'interagir efficacement avec des locuteur·rice·s natifs·ves, tout en gardant une certaine distance critique par rapport aux deux.

Grâce à mon experience en interpretation du Japonais et à mes séjours au Japon, je peux transmettre une approche naturelle et spontaneousée de la langue.

The course with the accent on the grammar, the vocabulary and the writing (kanji). En partant de la perspective d'un locuteur d'une langue Indo-Européenne, il vise à permettre aux apprenant·e·s d'acquérir la structure du Japanese de manière naturelle, en se détachant des éventuels biais inconscients liés à leur langue maternelle.

J'accorde également une attention particulière au lien entre l'écrit et l'oral – an aspect souvent surprenant en Japonais – afin de ne pas separer ces deux dimensions.
