Ableton Live is a software music sequencer and digital audio workstation. In contrast to many other software sequencers, Live is designed to be an instrument for live performances as well as a tool for composing, recording, arranging, mixing, and mastering.

Max, also known as Max/MSP/Jitter, is a visual programming language for music and multimedia. Over its more than thirty-year history, it has been used by composers, performers, software designers, researchers, and artists to create recordings, performances, and installations.

Depending on your interest I will show you how to use and customise each program to your needs, but also show you how to combine the two in order to get the best of the 2 worlds.

Ableton and MaxMSP are a killer combo for anyone that wants to:

- expand their musical instrument with electronic extensions
- create custom made controllers for their live performances
- create complex automations for live or studio use
- produce music, compose, arrange
- create automated VJ sets to accompany their live performance

About Me

Hi fellow rhythm lover!

My name is Alex, originally from Croatia.
I'm a drummer, percussionist, composer and programmer.

I'm currently focusing on performing solo enhancing drums and percussion with electronic creations. But I'm also working as a live and studio drummer in the fields of electronic, hip-hop, jazz, pop music & more. Active as a teacher, available for workshops, Skype lessons and private lessons in Amsterdam.

I started my musical journey playing the piano (7 years old) at a local music school but was always fascinated by rhythm. Got into playing drums when I was 16, then I realised that's gonna stay for life. I developed a deep interest in jazz music and Karnatic (South Indian) music so I decided to move to a specific place in Italy (Vicenza) where was possible to study drums and take tabla & indian music lessons. After diving deeper into jazz and playing with artists from all over the world mostly improvised music, I decided to explore a new field of interest - electronic music. Again, I found a place in Europe that offered the best education in the field of electronic (specifically live-electronics) music and that offered me the opportunity to continue my Indian studies while still playing the drums. Here in Amsterdam I had to privilege to study with some wonderful people and to connect with so many cutting-edge artists. Definitely staying here indefinitely! :)

Python is one of the best, if not the best, language to start learning programming. It is also one of the most widely used languages today, especially in cutting-edge areas such as machine learning.

This popularity means that Python is constantly evolving. It offers a wide range of tools and libraries, which are free and very varied.

As an aeronautical engineer, I like to share my knowledge and derive satisfaction from it by teaching and motivating others.

I'm used to working with people of different ages. I believe in the importance of segmenting learning, visualizing progress, setting concrete goals and practicing regularly.

Beyond these general principles, there is no magic rule or method. Some approaches work with some students but not with others. Adaptation to individual needs is therefore the main objective of private lessons. So I will do my best to find what motivates and helps my student.

Folk or classical acoustic guitar.

The teaching philosophy is adapted to the level of each individual, according to the pace of work and motivation.

For example, for beginners: Technique of the plectrum or fingers, coordination and correction of the right and left hand. Learning basic chords, simple themes, simple rhythms, reading tablatures (...).

For intermediaries: development of rhythm, construction of chords, writing of tablatures, basic notions of harmony (...).

Depending on your goals, you can learn, if you wish, to play 60 to 80% of current music from the first lessons, which often use the same chords and the same techniques. The objectives take into consideration the following points:

Hi, my name is Jim. I'm an electronic music producer with a Master’s degree in Music from the Fontys Academy of Arts (Rockacademie) in Tilburg, Netherlands. Music has always been my way of exploring the world — through raw field recordings, synthesis, and emotional storytelling. Over the past 12 years, I’ve developed a complete, self-sufficient creative process: from concept to composition, sound design to vocal production, mixing, mastering, and live performance. I’m passionate about helping others gain those same end-to-end technical skills — so they can bring their own musical vision fully to life.

As Malvae, I’ve written, sung, recorded, produced, mixed, mastered, and performed all of my work. My music reached #17 in the Spotify Viral 50 charts in the USA, gathered millions of streams, and featured in international film productions including King of the Streets and Netflix’s Terrace House Japan. One of the most formative moments in my career was my Amazonas album project, where I traveled into the Amazon rainforest to record and manipulate natural sounds. 90% of that album was created entirely from these field recordings, reshaped through granular synthesis and advanced sound design into a cohesive sonic journey. That experience deeply shaped how I approach my music and how I teach sound design and composition.

I’ve headlined shows at iconic venues like Melkweg Amsterdam with immersive, self-built audiovisual live sets using Ableton Live, modular gear, sequencers, and Resolume for live integrated visuals. I curated my own events and performed at venues like A’dam Tower, OT301. I also teach at studios such as Wisseloord in Hilversum, guiding students through the technical and creative intersections of sound and performance.

Selected Works & Collaborations:

My EP Like Bees to a Hive began as a soundscape for fashion brand Lobomar’s collection Final Orders, Please, presented at the Amsterdam World Museum. I collaborated with South African poet Julia-Beth Harris, integrating her spoken word into a seamless, atmospheric release. From sequential Prophet 6 textures to ADX1 drum machine layers and detailed field recordings, I handled every layer, from concept through multitrack production to the final live performance in London.

My Chrysalis EP, released as a limited-edition heavyweight red vinyl, pushed that even further, combining ethereal vocals, analog grit, and unique textures to craft an emotionally rich release. I personally led every part of the project’s technical and creative execution, from arrangement and vocal production to final mixing, mastering and vinyl press preparation.

In addition to my own projects, I’ve worked as a vocal producer and mixing engineer, including on Esther Veen’s EP Before I Go, where I handled recording, complex vocal layering, creative processing, production, multivocal arrangement and final mixing to deliver a polished, high-impact sound.
