MY EXPERIENCE As a native French speaker, I know the beauty and poetry of the language inside and out, and I’m excited to share it with anyone curious to dive in. Since high school, I’ve offered private tutoring to students aged 10 to 17, helping them with everything from grammar worksheets and book reviews to philosophy essays and creative writing assignments. As for English, I was raised in an international school environment where English was a core part of my education from childhood through high school. I earned my TOEFL certificate before beginning my current bachelor’s studies, which are entirely in English. I've also taught English with a focus on pronunciation, grammar, syntax, and practical communication skills. TUTORING SET-UP When tutoring, I place strong emphasis on tracking progress, often by assigning homework (if agreed upon) and creating clear, structured plans to help students stay on track. I’m always flexible and happy to adapt to each learner’s feedback and preferences to make lessons as enjoyable and engaging as possible. I offer lessons online or in person—either at my place or yours. Thanks to my bilingual upbringing (with a German mother) and my French-German high school diploma (AbiBac), I can also provide instruction in German if needed. Melinda is an excellent tutor and I've been completely satisfied by our clases. Melinda took care to understand my learning objectives before structuring are classes around natural conversation, reading, writing, and pronunciation. In particular, she prepares good (and interesting!) learning resources - Including new articles, film clips, and customised exercise sheets. While she speaks English fluently, she manages to teach in a clear and patient manner, meaning she rarely needs to switch to English to explain concepts. Beyond her talents as a teacher, she's incredibly friendly and personable. She's also shown a lot of flexibility regarding class scheduling. For reference to future students: I am a native English speaker learning French as a second language. I had an OK grasp of basic French before starting classes, but lacked both familiarity with grammar and confidence in speaking. I've had several lessons with Melinda and have experienced a clear improvement in my level and I will continue on a regular basis.

We've just had a few lessons together. She is super helpful. She started with really understanding where I was (grammar and vocabulary) and what my goals were. The initial lessons have been spot on. I appreciate that she takes her own notes to remember what we've covered along with being very open to adjusting topics to select ones of highest interest to me. (Be interested in the topic really helps me stay engaged.)
