Are you looking for Dutch lessons for your child? I help children and teenagers aged 4 to 18 speak Dutch with greater confidence and feel more at home in their new language environment. My name is Rebeca. I grew up speaking Dutch, English and Spanish. I attended an international school where English was the language of instruction, and completed my academic studies in Spanish. From personal experience, I understand how difficult it can be to express yourself when you are still learning the language spoken around you. My lessons focus on communication and speaking skills. We practise Dutch your child can use in everyday life. I tailor each lesson to the student’s age, level and needs, using suitable learning materials. Lessons are one-to-one and take place at a location I select in the Arnhem–Nijmegen area. Would you like to find out whether my lessons are right for your child? Feel free to send me a message. I’d be happy to discuss it with you.

Are you hoping to land an interview at a big American company, but you're worried about xenophobia? Well I was born on a farm in Iowa and even I'm afraid of xenophobia from my own countrymen. American culture has shifted recently and they can hear a foreigner a mile away; they also have no idea where your country is. If you want to apply for one of those huge American salaries, or if you just want to stop getting interrogated by your coworkers about the magical land you hail from, I'll teach you a flatter accent and some American ways of speaking. We'll have a conversation every lesson about whatever you like, with pauses every time a non-American accent comes through to discuss speech techniques, slang terms, and nonverbal body language. How you hold yourself and the tone of your speech is incredibly important in American culture, and we'll work together on developing your professional language.

My method of teaching starts with analyzing the difficulties for the student. Then we will work on this in a focused way. I will first explain more and then we will practice together. It is important that you practice well outside of the lessons. I studied computer science (and mathematics) at Radboud University. I finished mathematics at the gymnasium with an 8. So I can give you tutoring at any level. I have given math tutoring before and currently also have math students. Furthermore, I also have tutoring students for chemistry and physics, so I can help you with that too.

In this class, I will help you with writing in English at an academic level. This can be writing essays, refining your grammar and expanding your vocabulary, understanding academic texts, and more. It can be hard to transition to studying in English, particularly at the University level. With this class we make that transition easier, and make sure that language is not holding you back in class, essays or exams! I can also help with studying in English at school or college as well as at university.

This is not so much a lesson. It's more of an ongoing course. I will specifically guide you with your social research: from the choice of subject to the implementation of your conclusions/recommendations. And that at your own pace! Until my retirement I was a teacher at the HAN in Nijmegen for 25 years, studying Social Work. From that position I have supervised hundreds of graduation projects. I have extensive knowledge and tools for guidance for social research at MBO, HBO and Master Social Work level. For full-time students I use a different rate than stated above. Please get in touch if you are interested.

As a fourth-year conservatory student, I offer fun and good piano lessons for every level. The lessons can take place on location or at home. A standard piano lesson takes half an hour with me. This can take place once a week, every 2 weeks, or every month. For people who play a lot or are more advanced, half an hour is sometimes not enough, for them I also offer lessons of 45 minutes or an hour. With your wishes first, we make a lesson plan with which you can get to know the piano (better) as quickly as possible.

In consultation, I always try to adjust my lessons as much as possible to the personal preferences and the level of the students. However, I like a dinamic way to carry out the lessons. I like to use different sources (videos, audio, stories, comics, etc.) and I exchange activities to keep the student's attention.
