Trusted teacher: I offer online or face-to-face English lessons to non-native speakers. I work with the student to identify learning objectives and any areas of weakness and tailor the lesson accordingly. Areas covered during the lesson include, speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar accent reduction. I currently live in Den Haag, The Netherlands. In addition to private coaching, I also work for an online ESL company delivering English lessons to children across a range of age groups. In addition, I also work as an ESL proofreader and IELTS private tutor here in The Hague. I hold a BA (Hons) degree and have a CELTA qualification. Prior to a career in ESL English teaching, I worked in the UK national press for the Times and Financial Times newspapers. It was there I developed my proofreading and communications skills. In my spare time, I write articles for magazines and have had feature stories published in The Telegraph magazine, The Daily Mail and a number of health magazines. I have also written two language books. The first, 'I Already Speak Speak French!' is an illustrated book for children that covers the etymology of many English words to their French origin (attached is a sample of it for your interest!). It has been translated for the French market into, 'I Already Speak English!' The second book is called, 'Learn Business English FAST!' which draws on a teaching methodology used for effective, fast learning that I used whilst teaching English for the international company, GoFluent.

Hugh is a teacher unlike anything I have ever experienced. He positively surprised me several times. The way of teaching is very impressive. From the first moment I felt at ease. I was quite insecure about my English language but Hugh helped me completely. In addition to improving my English language, Hugh has also taught me some great life lessons. What sets Hugh apart is not just his knowledge but his ability to connect with the student. His approachability and genuine concern for my understanding have created an atmosphere where I felt valued and encouraged. In addition, he was a fascinating motivator and a great source of inspiration, the perfect example of what an English teacher should be. It is clear that he has a lot of experience in everything that has to do with teaching. After every lesson I went home with a very good feeling. His teaching style is very excellent! My private violin lesson with Ester was absolutely perfect. I had a privilege to hear Ester play her violin and she is so good- it is crazy to think I was able to learn from her. She is also such a good teacher. Full of knowlege and patience- which is, in my opinion, a rare combination. I had no prior musical education and this was my first real music lesson. Ester managed to teach me basic note reading, correct violin holding and even playing my first tunes. Her explainations are very clear and easy to understand. And her approach is very friendly. She is also a very nice person and easy to talk to. I wish we lived in the same city so I could keep studying playing violin with Ester- that's how good she is. Lidia

Marcel is a patient and calm teacher who is enjoyable to work with. I signed up for 10 lessons over the summer while recovering from surgery and I learned more Dutch than I thought I would. I am no longer intimated by the language! While I cannot continue at the same pace now that I am back at work, I owe a debt of thanks to Marcel for starting the journey.
