Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series (also known as the First Series or Yoga Chikitsa) means yoga therapy. When practiced regularly, heals all sickness and purifies your body in preparation for more profound Yogic practice - both physical and meditative. Ashtanga Yoga is a definite sequence of various Hatha Yoga Asanas or poses coupled with a particular set of breathing techniques called ‘Ujjayi Pranayama.’ This sequence was developed by the famous Hatha Yoga Master of the 20th century - Yogi K Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series is an ancient Hatha yoga text known as ‘Yoga Korunta.’ This ancient yoga series is practiced with synchronized breathing techniques (Vinyasa) that promote ‘flow of breathe’ in the asana or pose practice. Together, this is called Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Style. During the course, you will receive a workshop focused on alignment and adjustment techniques for the main postures of the Ashtanga Yoga primary series and a few other more advanced postures if you wish.
