Trusted teacher: My main teaching philosophy is to teach students to play the music they enjoy. It sounds like a no-brainer but I have had teachers in the past who only showed me songs that they enjoyed or used method books that teach you "Mary Had A Little Lamb" or "Hot Crossed Buns" (and if you like those songs then we can learn those). All that to say, whatever the student's goal on the instrument, I will take them step by step until they reach it. For a beginning musician, the fundamentals of the instrument are given the highest priority: how to tune your instrument, names of all the notes, essential chords, basic strumming, playing in time, and understanding basic rhythm. For someone who already plays but needs a little help getting out of the rut, we'll spend time fixing bad technical habits, hammering home the fundamentals, expanding their repertoire, and slowly moving outside of the comfort zone to new horizons. With advanced players, listening (ear training), transcribing, song analysis, exploring advanced theory concepts, and focusing on composition and improvisation are most important. With all levels of students, I make playlists that I update after each lesson so they can hear real examples of what we are covering, as well as provide detailed written notes in TAB and standard notation so they can refer to everything we covered and know what to practice. Also, it's fun!

Primarily as a guitarist, I have spent years writing, recording, and performing music with various bands at venues ranging from International music festivals to coffee shops! Having studied Professional Musicianship at the British Institute of Modern Music, my understanding of music is both professional and practical, and this is the approach I take when teaching. Previously I have taught at the London Guitar Academy and I am now involved with BIMM Berlin. Music should always be enjoyable and fun, so if you just want to work on a few songs to strum out at a BBQ then we can work through them! Usha is a world-class violinist and violin teacher! I studied from a young age and through college at a relatively high level, but had to put it down for many years once I started working. Usha has helped me relearn the fundamentals with good habits and regain confidence as a performing artist. I love how creatively she tackles complex problems, and how her violin lessons--though focused on music and technique--seem to involve big life lessons as well. I look forward to continuing to study with Usha!

I had a great first lesson using Ableton! Niki spent time helping me with my equipment set-up and also went through some of the settings with me. He explained things very clearly, answered my questions and showed me some of the basic things necessary to find my way as a beginner using Ableton. I now have a few things to try out and I'm excited to start experimenting and seeing what I can record. Thanks Niki!

Ann is an amazing dance teacher. In a very short time, she taught us the choreography she created for our wedding dance and made the whole process enjoyable and stress-free. She is very flexible and was happy to incorporate the songs of our choosing into the routine. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented and supportive dance teacher
