Drawing and writing are two ancient forms of expression that many artists have used before becoming masters in their field. Traditional frame-by-frame animation (on paper or in 2D on a computer) is a less ancient process but highly instructive in the understanding of movement. This audiovisual technique obviously allows us to express ourselves in a more modern medium that combines image and sound to entertain, make people laugh, move them or transmit strong values. With 12 years of experience in the Academy of Fine Arts, a Bachelor's degree in Visual and Spatial Arts from Saint-Luc, Brussels, and a Master's degree in Animation Cinema from the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (the oldest animation teaching department in Europe), I offer: - For beginners: an initiation and understanding of the basics of drawing from imagination and observation in order to gradually acquire an increasingly solid technique. - For intermediate/students in art education or more experienced enthusiasts: development of their already acquired techniques, correction of defects as well as help with projects requested by the school or for amateurs who wish to design a written/drawn/animated work for their pleasure. - For advanced/higher education students in ESA: sustained assistance and coaching for the development of projects whether in drawing, writing, storyboarding, animation or concept (installation, video game experience). Finally, I offer these more seasoned artists the development of their own style in order to distinguish themselves and offer a unique aesthetic for their singular point of view on the world.

Are you passionate about poetry, drama and literature? Want to develop your writing skills with a creative and inspiring mentor? Join me in my engaging and dynamic classes, where I combine my experience as a published author, performance poet and playwright with a deep love for teaching. I've had the privilege of performing poetry alongside jazz musicians, blending the rhythm of words with the energy of live music, creating truly immersive and evocative experiences. My theatre productions have brought together storytelling, dance, poetry and rap to create hilarious and heartbreaking narratives that left audiences buzzing. I draw on all of this experience in my classes. My workshops are designed to help you explore your creative literary practice in innovative ways, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned writer looking to refine your craft. In addition to my performances, I've taught poetry workshops in schools and creative writing at the prestigious Leeds Playhouse. I’ve worked with diverse groups of students and writers of all ages. I specialise in creating a supportive and creative space for you to experiment with your voice, learn from classic and contemporary works, and gain practical skills to elevate your writing. Through my classes, you’ll gain: - Insight into the craft of poetry, prose and drama from a published author, poet and playwright. - The opportunity to experiment with different styles, from formal verse to free verse, prose to performance. - A deeper understanding of English literature, with a focus on both classic texts and modern works. - Techniques for writing that combine creativity with technical skill. - The chance to share your work in a safe and encouraging space. Whether you dream of publishing your first collection or simply want to enhance your love for the written word, I offer personalised guidance that caters to your individual needs and interests. Let’s explore the world of poetry and literature together, and unlock your unique voice as a writer!

I am a tutor with 7+ years of experience teaching at a variety of levels from primary school to GCSE level. I teach English Language, English Literature, ESOL (English for speakers of other languages), Maths, and Creative Writing. I have a special passion for creative writing, which I specifically studied in my joint honours degree (BA English with Creative Writing), and specialise in producing stories, written poetry, and spoken word poetry which I have previously performed at events. I have run creative writing workshops for children at previous educational centres and love to make writing enjoyable, engaging and exciting for all of my students at all levels. I believe the most successful results come from fostering a friendship with my students, and providing constant encouragement and support in their areas of interest. I pride am an attentive listener and I carefully plan my lessons according to the specific needs of my students, which is particularly helpful for my SEN, ESOL, and younger pupils. At the beginning of every lesson I also do short icebreaker activities and challenges with my students, using a points reward system to keep them engaged. Previous students have gone on to become the top of their class and receive recognition at school for both English and Maths. Lessons start at 1 hour in length, with longer lessons available if required. Lessons are structured according to the needs of the student; this can be working alongside their class syllabus to support them with progress at school, tackling an area or subject they want to excel at, and helping them prepare for national exams such as GCSEs. I provide feedback after every lesson and detailed progress reports every six months for each student. I primarily offer online lessons as I have found this works well for me and my students, but in some cases I do teach face-to-face depending on location and availability within London. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have - I look forward to speaking with you soon!

John is an excellent tutor. He goes through the material very carefully and explains every aspect in a clear and understandable way. In my case this was for the subject matter linguistics. John is also a fantastic creative writing tutor and was super helpful to me when I was writing my essays. He is someone who really cares about giving his students a quality lesson that they can benefit from and I cannot recommend him enough.
