To meet the socio-political challenges of our globalized 21st-century, you need two things: a) critical thinking and communication in English; c) general 'cultural awareness' of the world's competing ideologies. I will lead you to master both of these essential domains simultaneously, using expertise I have gained in England, Czechia, Peru, and Holland.

In our first session, we will draw up a tailor-made curriculum for your current goals and interests. For instance, I can quickly clear up the basic context for a difficult language & literature class you are taking. I can teach you the writing and analysis skills needed to excel at top universities in the Humanities or Political Science. And I can help you communicate well with international work partners from Eastern Europe, the Islamic World, or the Americas. I offer online or face-to-face English lessons to non-native speakers. I work with the student to identify learning objectives and any areas of weakness and tailor the lesson accordingly. Areas covered during the lesson include, speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar accent reduction.
I currently live in Den Haag, The Netherlands. In addition to private coaching, I also work for an online ESL company delivering English lessons to children across a range of age groups. In addition, I also work as an ESL proofreader and IELTS private tutor here in The Hague. I hold a BA (Hons) degree and have a CELTA qualification. I have also written two language books. The first, 'I Already Speak Speak French!' is an illustrated book for children that covers the etymology of many English words to their French origin (attached is a sample of it for your interest!). It has been translated for the French market into, 'I Already Speak English!' The second book is called, 'Learn Business English FAST!' which draws on a teaching methodology used for effective, fast learning that I used whilst teaching English for the international company, GoFluent.

My name is Louis, I am a 23 years old and am a native English speaker. Before The Netherlands, I have lived in the UK for 16+ years; all of my school education has been in the English taught British school system. This has helped clients in particular, with children in a British school here.

I have designed my classes with the aim of building the basic skills required in holding conversations, succeeding in an English speaking environment but also teaching students who have an advanced level but require extra help (often with the technical side, for example the rules surrounding tenses and other grammatical points).

The classes are best performed on a one to one basis but I have taught small group sessions (less than 5) before.

🗣️ Pronunciation for Public Speaking and Conversation is a course that identifies and resolves the issues that make people struggle to understand you. Common issues include:

• speaking too fast or slow
• having a confusing or flat intonation
• missing or overemphasising weak sounds
• stressing the wrong parts of words or sentences
• not linking sounds together
• talking with a rhythm that isn't natural to English

We will use a mix of techniques from shadowing and repetition exercises to dramatic readings and real-time speaking practice. ABOUT ME
My name’s Tom and I’m an English teacher from Southeast England. Now I live in the Hague, Netherlands. I teach English learners how to communicate more clearly.

I have taught for various schools and agencies in the Netherlands and been frustrated by the lack of high-quality materials and expertise in the pronunciation teaching field. So in 2021 I set up my freelance teaching business to change the situation.

I have over 12 years of teaching experience, and I have a master's degree in Linguistics from Leiden University, with a specialisation in English Linguistics. I am trained in speech analysis software, which is a highly effective (and fun!) tool that helps learners not only hear but also visualise their mistakes.

I speak Finnish (my mum's side is from Finland), Mandarin Chinese (I lived in Taiwan for six years) and French (because I love the sound of it). I also know smatterings of other languages like Dutch, Spanish and Japanese. I am also an English language nerd and will happily talk your head off about why British people say "wa'er", what “muscles” have to do with mice, or why English spelling is so beautifully bizarre.
