I propose saxophone lessons for all ages, all levels, and in all styles. I have been running private lessons for 25 years, as well as giving workshops and master classes in colleges and universities. During a lesson I encourage the student to work on: posture, breathing and the position of the mouth (embouchure), helping the projection of sound; the development of the tone; i teach the student how to phrase and play a beautiful melody; techniques of improvisation; understanding harmony; having confidence in his/her playing skills; techniques of listening and interacting with the rhythm section; learning new songs and experiencing different styles of music; Introductions to key saxophonists. He studied at the "Musikene" (Higher Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country) with Eric Devallon, Tomás Jérez, Antonio Felipe Belijar and Miguel Ángel Lorente. Passionate about multidisciplinary artistic creation, he thinks of mixing all the arts in the same show as an aesthetic finality. My name is Joan Jordi, I'm from Spain and have been living and studying in Zurich for two years. My main specialization is the saxophone, which I have been studying in Spain and completing a Master Degrees at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. During my studies in Spain I have been teaching in a music school, specially children in between 7 and 16 years old, and some adults privately. Hello, Thank you for checking out my page! I offer the chance for the student to focus on an area they are most interested in. For example, music focused around jazz, world music, or perhaps to work towards taking classical exams. I will help you choose and buy music that tailors to your interests and together we will work through pieces, practise theory appropriate for your ability, discuss listening materials, practice improvisation and aural exercises. I will tailor each class to the individual and discuss the goals and aims you wish for your time learning with me.

In the classes we will address the different elements that make up music in different styles, knowing the particular language of each one. To do this, we will work on the different tools that we have with each instrument at the level at which each one is. We all know music but many times they make us believe that no, that it is necessary to know how to read and write. That is the graphic part of the language that we will learn little by little, music is a compendium of many other things. Some that we already know and others to know. We will study the use of the keys and the positions of the clarinet, or the sax, the best way to position ourselves whether we play standing or sitting, the most efficient way to use the air, the diaphragm, the muscles. We will learn to form a good embouchure and we will develop a study method adapted to each one, according to their tastes, possibilities and interests. I work with boys and girls from different parts of the world as well as with adults and the elderly. In my experience I learned that, truly, the greatest limitation that we find ourselves is the very feeling of not being able, of believing that we cannot. The support of a dedicated teacher is essential to get out of those places where we accidentally enter and that sometimes limit us. We all feel that sometime. It is time for us to remedy it.
