Biology is that concrete base on which our very existence relies upon. The study of biology is associated with the structure, function, and evolution of living organisms. But in this modern era, this impeccable field has diversified into multiple branches each focusing on specific areas. The prominence of these areas has risen immensely owing to the research work carried out extensively. Armed with the fuelling advancements in technology, we have obtained the answers to some of the most peculiar questions pertaining to Biology that have been lingering on our minds since time unknown. I have a bachelor's degree in Genetic engineering and currently, an ongoing master's degree in Molecular microbiology, with the experience of one year of research lab work in a government project where I was guiding interns for this project as well as for their internships with my own research project. Hi! I am a native Italian speaker and a doctoral researcher in biomedical engineer in England, so I am mothertongue in English. In bioprocessing you cannot have the cake and eat it too. Constantly, you need to make choices about which unit operation is best suited for a particular application and what are the trade offs. Because of so many factors that guide this decision, it can be daunting for starting biotech/bioprocess students to be overwhelmed. I was definitely overwhelmed in my 1st year of uni. But after 5 years studying the subject, I am here to help you to think like an engineer and make informed choices based on the context of the process and product. In my class, I will teach you the theoretical background behind bioreactors and common unit operations (e.g. filtration, centrifugation, chromatography) and how to implement them into a bioprocess. This class is best suited for university students (bachelor or master), people joining/switching industry or just people interested in how pharmaceuticals are made! I create my own materials for each class and use a tablet to easily draw diagrams and mechanisms, write down chemical reactions and step-by-step calculations.
