About Me

I always loved Science (particularly Biology) and - besides the obvious reference to Rosalind Franklin, Charles Darwin and Alfred Wallace - I was greatly influenced by Desmond Morris, David Attenborough, Stephen Jay Gould, Richard Dawkins and Paul Ekman. Their ability to question and to endure on a quest for the truth has always amazed me.
I am a Biologist with a Master's degree in the field of Education (focusing on Biology). I have been working in the field of Education and Adult Training since 2000. I believe that I am becoming a facilitator (rather than the chief protagonist) of my students’ education and learning experience. It is not just about what they know, but rather how they know it, and what they are planning to do with that data. I want to encourage students to become inquisitive problem-solvers and innovators. I also believe that teaching can also develop resilience, compassion and empathy, which are key-skills in our complex world. Recently, I started to develop a profound interest about mindfulness. As a mindfulness practitioner I feel and understand its benefits. So, I am inspired to take my knowledge and use my practice to benefit many.

I have taught high school students Psychology, and it is a learning experience for me as well. The subject might sometimes come off as too "theoretical" or "boring", but with the right instructor it can turn into the most interesting subject ever! I believe in teaching using dialogue as it helps give the student more autonomy over the material and dialogue helps them engage. I do not believe in rote memorisation as it leads to no good and just helps with word vomit in exams, which is not helpful to anyone. Education should be an enriching experience and not one which you dread. Therefore I also make it a point to use methods which caters to the needs of the student rather than how I would like to teach because at the end of the day I am there to make learning a fun experience for them rather than a convenient one for me. My interest in psychology was sparked over one class with the right teacher and I am hoping I could do the same for you.
