Trumpet and cornet lessons for beginners or amateurs

I am a professional trumpet player graduated from Conservatorium van Amsterdam.I have 21 years of experience in playing trumpet, and 12 years of teaching experience. First of all during our lessons I want to help you to achieve your goals and ambitions in music.Based on it I’ll do my best in order to make the most effective program for you.Also most of my lessons will contain aspects of the basic trumpet techniques,development of the jazz improvisation skills or classical solo pieces,and basic music theory. I am a London based music educator, working for many Music Hubs and Institutions across the city. My teaching experience is broad and deep: brass instruments, theory, music production, arranging and more; from primary schools to university lecturing. I also offer private lessons in my studio in Camden or online.

My teaching method is as follows without the instrument: Awareness of the breath, placement of the mask (lips, tongue, palate, throat), body position. With the instrument: The air column, the position of the mouthpiece, the work and the position of the tongue. How to be enduring on the trumpet and get tired as little as possible. For the advanced: work on the treble, the brass section, precision, Cat Anderson's whisper g, the choice of mouthpieces, the piccolo trumpet. There are also balms to relax the facial muscles, flush out lactic acid, oxygenate the blood and reduce swelling. Subsequently or for the students who play correctly, we will work on the classic program of the technique with French and American methods, work of improvisation and decryption.

The trumpet: its correct technical execution and the interpretation of popular and academic universal repertoires, is available to everyone regardless of their age. We will build a logical sequence of studies that will help develop the technical aspects. And we will address repertoires according to the age and taste of the student. we will draw a path with short, medium and long term goals. we will build a technical routine and healthy habits to progress correctly. In addition, we will select musical pieces by mutual agreement to mature the technical development hand in hand with musical growth. I am a professional trumpeter, I have participated in symphony orchestras, wind bands, big band, and small chamber and jazz ensembles. I have extensive experience teaching children, youth and adults. For me it is very important to make music from the first lesson, because there must be a balance between technical practice and its application in small melodies or musical pieces. No matter the musical genre, we will always find a repertoire according to the level and interest of each student. If you already know how to play and you need to perfect a piece or prepare a recital or audition, you can count on my experience and accompaniment as well.

In this course you will learn techniques to be able to play your low brass instrument so that you can play any style. Technique: Embouchure, breathing, flexibility, articulation and more styles: Academic music; baroque, renaissance, classicism, romanticism, jazz, salsa, pop, funk and more. improvisation techniques: different types of scales, harmony and more.

I’ll teach you how to approach practice on trumpet or other instruments, based on my 15 years old experience. It’s crucial for me to find approach to every student, and to share knowledge I collected from deferent teachers, musicians and life.

I was a student for 6 years at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels while being accepted in one of the most prestigious conservatories in Belgium. In master 1 I had the pleasure of leaving for a year in Erasmus in Italy in Rome, artistic capital essential in particular musically. I have already taught the trumpet by giving private lessons and lessons can be done in French, English and Italian and also by webcam. I am currently an associate professor in a conservatory and a music school in France. My goal: to make you feel more than one with your instrument and to have fun when you practice it. Hi there! I am Rafael, a graduate Master's student at the Conservatorium Maastricht. I have been playing trumpet for more than 15 years and I am excited to share my passion and show others the fantastic sound of the trumpet. In the past when I was still living in Portugal (my home country), I have been a trumpet teacher for musicians of all ages. Additionally, I have experience in orchestra playing such as Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, NJO (Nationaal Jeugdorkest), and Limburg Jeugd Orkest. I am passionate about classical music, however, I am open to working with any music style, like Jazz, Pop, or Baroque. Before coming to the Netherlands, I graduated from the ESMAE (Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo) in Porto, Portugal. During my career, I have been working with musicians such as Floris Onstweder, Benny Wiame, Kevin Wauldron, Telmo Barbosa, and Carlos Leite. I also did a masterclass with musicians like Reinhold Friedrich, Jeroen Berwaerts, Charles Schlueter, Gábor Tarkövi, Fábio Brum, Clément Saunier, and Andrei Kavalinski. My goal as your teacher is to give you the main tools to play trumpet and expose you to the various aspects of trumpet performance. I can teach you about aspects like style, tone quality, endurance, and musical phrasing. I am also happy to help you with any aspects of music theory if the student is interested in doing so. I will help you understand concepts such as keys and meter signatures. I am also willing to help you prepare for possible entrance exams to music schools or Conservatoriums.
