About Me

learning an instrument was something I always wanted to do but it was 'too hard' and I wasn't 'good enough.' I broke both my wrists and struggled with dexterity and patience.

In my 4th year as a teacher I visited Hawaii for a drumming course. I stumbled onto the Uke, fell in love with it and have helped introduce it into hundreds of students.

I've taught students dance drama and music and taught teachers how to teach those performing arts. I don't teach performing seals but if you're interested in learning the uke, developing your confidence whilst playing, challenging yourself and having some laughs along the way, I can help you.

Ukulele lessons in Brussels via Zoom. You're not too old, or too young to play the ukulele. Begin your musical journey today!
Learn ukulele with me in Brussels. The ukulele's small size, lightweight, and strings that are easy to press down make this instrument one of the easiest to play. Learning to play the ukulele can deliver huge benefits including improved memory, coordination, and stress relief to everyone ranging from small children to seniors. The ukulele is also one of the easiest stringed instruments to learn to play, making it an excellent stepping stone for other stringed instruments like the guitar.

Alex
Guitar lessons, ukulele lessons and music theory lessons
Through his studies in Rotterdam, Alex had the opportunity to learn guitar with teachers from different backgrounds and influences (classical, latin, jazz, flamenco, Turkish, Indian, jazz composition and pop). This led him to study his instrument and investigate music through multiple angles and perspectives, accumulating complementary knowledge to fully understand and synthesize its functioning. After achieving a degree in guitar (performance and pedagogy), he started to devise exercises and systems of learning through his own method, refining it as time went on. He then started to teach what he had learned and developed, first in private classes then through music schools. Alex's priorities through the lessons are development, motivation and interest. It's very important that there is a constructive evolution in the pupil's playing, a constant will to move forward, as well as pieces/songs that inspire him or her. It's important that the pupils learn through an efficient and personal method, but also through their own interest and repertoire (wishlist). In a teaching lesson the focus is put on : - guitar posture, technique and sound - timing and rhythmic feel - strumming and grooves - interpretation - theory and knowledge of music - improvisation - repertoire (on student's wishlist) There are three dimensions to a student's programme : scores, tutorials and coaching. Having a Master's degree in Jazz composition (Rotterdam), Alex designs the scores himself, making arrangements of pieces / songs in an accessible way, along with his method and exercises for guitar technique. The scores are written with a hybrid notation (music notation and tab notation), and with all the information necessary about the right and left hand. After having agreed on the pieces / songs to be worked on, the relevant score is shared and given at the lesson. The teacher goes through it, while he also plays it live to the pupil for even more reach. He then explains what needs to be clarified in order to prepare any homework. Finally, Alex creates a video tutorial about the piece or song that needs to be learned for the next lesson. This gives extra support when practising at home, in order to avoid any doubt and keep motivation up. A report is then created to keep track of what has been done as well as what needs to be worked on, in order to unlock technical requirements and complete a specific repertoire in a constructive and efficient way. Alex teaches in Rotterdam at home or at the pupil's own location ; lessons are in Dutch, English or French, for all ages and levels. The teacher mainly gives live lessons, where he works with his pupils on specific material (technique and repertoire). If for any reason a live lesson can't take place, it is of course possible to follow an online lesson. Lessons last 30 minutes or 45 minutes, weekly or biweekly.

Guitar lessons - all styles - in Ottignies and around
- About the course-- My method is to work the technique and the musicality at the beginning of the tastes of the student so that the objectives are always stimulating. I try to develop as quickly as possible to the students, that is to say to make them able to target their own difficulties and to invent the exercises to solve them. --About me-- I am a guitar teacher for over 15 years, privately, music school (Kraainem, Waterloo, Enghien) and internship (AKDT). I started the guitar 25 years ago and have never stopped. I went through all styles: from classical to pop songs and then to electric guitar: blues, rock and then jazz (with Frankie Rose). Later, I developed flamenco (with Karim Baggili), Brazilian (with Osman Martins), gypsy music and Eastern European music (with Tcha Limberger). I am also versed in gypsy jazz. I can give classes of any level and any style. I give the theory in parallel of what is worked so that it enters in a passive way. I have experience with children as well as adults. I also teach electric bass and ukulele.

He is currently living and studying in Zürich, Switzerland, doing a Master’s Degree program in early plucked string instruments at the ZHdK with Eduardo Egüez. He studied in Buenos Aires with Marcela Sfriso and Eduardo Isaac. As part of his training, he also took several courses and seminars with renowned guitarists, such as Pablo Márquez, Eduardo Fernández, Walter Ujaldón, and Miguel de Olaso. In the last ten years, he was featured regularly as a soloist and with different ensembles in the main concert halls in Buenos Aires city, such as CCK, Usina del Arte and Centro Nacional de la Música. He has also performed in Paraguay, Switzerland and Italy. In 2009 he founded the Camerata Argentina de Guitarras (guitarist and Artistic Director 2009-2019). In 2014 he released his first solo album "Morro de Saudade”. He has made national and international premieres of Latin-American composers such as Leo Brouwer and Javier Farías, with an ensemble and as a soloist. We can work in any kind of songs, strummings, fingerpicking, fingerstyle My classes are for: -Amateurs and advanced students. -Kids, young people, and adults. I can teach in English, Spanish, and High German. More about my classes My guitar teaching model is based on books and the approach of guitarist and pedagogue Abel Carlevaro. In some way, it is about understanding and analyzing the nature of the movements we make to play the guitar or ukelele in the simplest way possible. Just as to build a building you need a good foundation, to build a system of skills that allows us to be musicians, we need to know and practice in a conscious way all the movements we do. These movements are what we do when we play just one open string or what we need to do to play the most difficult piece of the repertoire. After getting to know and listening to how my students play I propose a short and medium-term work plan. This plan is presented taking into account the objectives and wishes of each student. Exercises and pieces are included that will also allow to know the repertoire of the guitar. Therefore, each work plan includes specific and general contents.

Classical and modern guitar lessons! * Titled Professor with Higher Degree and Master's Degree *
In my classes, depending on the case, theory accompanies practice. We will focus on establishing the basics of guitar technique and adding elements little by little without frustrating learning. I will adapt to the student's tastes without problem, having as a goal their priorities, but without neglecting my advice for proper development. The important thing is that the initial learning process is as efficient as possible, to maintain interest and consistency in the practice of the instrument.

Music is an art of the soul and everyone has it in them; so why not give it a chance!
I've been playing the guitar for the past 3 years and also I know how to play the ukulele as well. Ukulele is very easy once you get a hold of the guitar and also the other way round. I'm familiar with the chords and all that you need to play a song. My teaching style is quite flexible and I focus on how you want to play the instrument (whether u want to read the entire song in the guitar or sing while playing it). I also see that no one lags behind and at the same time make sure you are thorough with the topics. No printed books are required and ill try my best to clear your doubts regarding the topics.

Teaching Ukulele for Beginners- Learn a New Skill!
The ukulele is a great instrument to learn, no matter how old or young you are! With the capability to be both a beginner's instrument and a more advanced one, learning to play the ukulele is a great skill to have for aspiring musicians and those who wish to engage the creative sides of their brains a little more! The ukulele is also a great stepping stone to playing the guitar, due to the knowledge that you gain of the skills needed to progress. In my lessons, you will learn simple chords and finger placements, as well as some basic songs that you can play with the same three or four chords! You will learn how to play different types of chords, which can be played in several different ways depending on your personal preference and ability, and after practising these chords, I will teach you some songs that can be played and evolved with the knowledge you have gained. Additionally, I will teach you to read music at a basic level, and I will teach the simple steps you can take to remembering the names and placements of notes on the manuscripts (the term used for the type of paper where musical notes are written). This is a great lesson, for children and teenagers alike, that I hope you will enjoy!
