Hello! My name is Yaiza and I am a guitar teacher and student of LUCA (School of arts) in Leuven. I am here to help you to learn how to play the guitar. It doesn't matter what is your level, if you are a beginner or if you have been playing for a while. We will work together with tablature and pentagrams, as you prefer! We will use your favourite songs, fun exercises, listen to music, and other methods to enjoy learning. I really love to teach and every person has something special to show through music. I am passionate about teaching guitar! Over the last 10 years I have been teaching students from ages 7-70 from complete beginners to advanced players with one thing in common - their wish to play guitar more comfortably and have fun while doing it! I am a classical guitarist with a background in pedagogy, psychology and physiotherapy, my approach - methodical. While working on the things you want to improve and learn I will also help you develop a deep understanding of the theory and principles that music is built upon. Our lessons will be exploratory and imaginative whilst also underpinned by technical knowledge so that you can enjoy playing comfortably and without pain. My aim is to get you to where you want to be playing guitar, whether that be for friends at New Year or on the stage at Carnegie Hall!

I have years of experience performing for live audiences with local bands in different countries (Mexico, USA, Germany, Belgium), from rock, metal, blues, indie, pop, and even folk. I always adapt my lessons to the student’s intuition and to what the student wants to achieve (from learning their favorite songs to particular techniques). To enjoy and have fun playing is always very central to my lessons. You can also add basic music theory, and some singing techniques to broaden your musical experience (only the basic singing lessons would represent an extra cost). I also try to work as much as possible with the genres that you like to listen to yourself, this is of course more motivating (after all, you don't want to try to teach Mozart to a Metal fan ;)) My approach is certainly not like that of the 'music theory' at the academy. From your first lesson you will immediately start playing songs. I only use music theory if it is really necessary or if you would like to delve into it. Practical: I follow distance education so I can actually go at any time of the week, online lessons are also a possibility. I have been playing electric guitar for 16 years and I was a member of several rock bands before. In my courses, I mostly focus on improvisation over bluesy, jazzy or simple rock chords. For those beginners, I start with some basics until we reach the required level to improvise.
