Hello to all, my name is Kelly and I am a native English speaker originally from Florida, United States. I have been teaching English as a foreign language for the 5 years in total both online and in person. I have taught in classrooms in Budapest, Dubai, as well as throughout Thailand and South Africa. I have a diploma in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Pennsylvania State University and also attended Brooklyn Law School, where I left to join the Peace Corps and teach overseas. I have a TEFL certification and also attended classes in the Peace Corps focused on 21st century learning skills and how to teach foreign language students of all ages.

My main focus is making my class a fun and engaging environment focused on the subjects you are interested in pursuing or were you are looking to better your skills. Whether that is through learning about feminist icons, art history, famous criminals, crime and punishment, or even through pop culture. I want to relate our classes to subject material you find interesting. My classes are uniquely tailored to each person, I have had students that choose to read novels together where we discuss the settings of the book and how the character development grew throughout. I have had other students who wanted to dive deep into the minds of past criminals so we read about Bonnie and Clyde and the Zodiac Killer discussing their motives and what made them retract from society norms. I also re-read the entire series of Harry Potter with one student and we did lessons incorporating house sorting, the discussion of good vs. evil and new vocabulary into our talks. Of course grammar is a given and will always be corrected throughout, but I want to make these classes exciting and not something you dread each week.

I can also assist those looking for more practice with Business English, I have helped prepare past students for interviews, pitches for their book proposals, and drafting a business plan for a new restaurant to a bank.

The IELTS exam is another avenue which I am prepared to assist you in, I have taught 5 students in the past who all passed with flying colors, and am currently assisting 3 students in their quest to take the exam within the next year.

• I am a fun-loving person who can talk for hours at length about any subject. I love a good conversation, and always find it fun to talk with people from different cultures and with different life experiences.

• I love traveling and thus far I have lived in 4 countries and traveled to more than 32. I love to meet new people, try new foods, and immerse myself in the local culture.

• I am a massive music fan and briefly went to college for musical theatre in NYC before pursuing a different avenue, I love a good musical but I listen to everything under the sun excluding heavy metal. My tastes range from Taylor Swift to Stevie Knicks, and I am always down to listen to Post Malone or Lil Skies.

• I was never super sporty but I did participate in cheerleading when I was younger and then did a full 180 and did amateur boxing in my teen years.

I graduated in May 2016 and received my Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania with a degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science. Previously attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and attended Brooklyn Law School but left to volunteer in the Peace Corps.

The SAT is a landmark exam for many high school students. A good exam score can be instrumental in college admissions. This course is designed to provide students with resources to set a goal score, make a study plan, and feel confident on test day. I got a 1530 on my most recent SAT, and I am dedicated to uplifting students to and beyond that score.
I can help specifically with the English and Math multiple choice parts of the exam. With students I will cover both content, the information being tested on the exam, and testing strategies, how to more efficiently and effectively take the test.
