About Me
My name is Hannah and I am passionate about languages. I studied 3 languages at A Level (French, German, Spanish), continued French and German at undergraduate, completed my Master's studies in Germany and have just submitted my PhD on the Mauritian Creole language, spoken in Mauritius. I recently gained my CELTA qualification for Teaching English and teach German part-time at a private school.
I have enjoyed tutoring since I started university and love sharing my passion for languages. I have helped a number of students with their GCSE exams in French and German and I sought out tutoring opportunities when I was abroad, teaching children, students and adults English, French and German. I find teaching really rewarding and I enjoy it a lot!
I am always very flexible depending on the student. Everybody learns differently so it is important not to impose one way of learning, but to suggest different ways. I do encourage students to keep a vocabulary book where they can write down any new words, but for younger learners most vocabulary teaching will be done with flashcards or mini whiteboards to make it more interactive. I have collected all sorts of language games over the years, so I try to make it fun wherever possible. For those studying for exams, I find practising with past-papers useful so I like to base the lesson on a certain past-paper question type and make sure the student feels confident with it before moving on to the next.
