Biology - all topics covered from primary to undergraduate level

As a recent first-class Biochemistry graduate working as an intern in Financial Audit and Value for Money (VFM) at the UK National Audit Office, I have experience working in many fields, from medicine to tutoring to auditing. I have had experience as a glider pilot through my Gliding scholarship, I have worked with my genetics lecturer as a laboratory module developer and I have also been an activity leader in an international summer school. I, therefore, hold a spectrum of transferrable skills with a wealth of knowledge in Biochemistry which I can bring to the students.

My teaching method starts with an initial assessment and consultation with the students to identify their areas of weakness. We then discuss effective revision methods to see which one is more suited for the individual. I action plan or a revision plan will then be created with the student, which is suited to their daily lives.

Following this, we tackle the subject areas using various methods. Making the lessons creative and ensuring the student understands why things happen instead of memorising facts is very important, therefore, explaining certain topics as a story and a flowing process is crucial. To ensure that the student has fully understood the session, the end of each session will consist of a recall period, where the student will have 5-10 minutes to write everything they have learnt and understood in that session.

The student will then be advised revision techniques for the topic and we will create a revision plan for the following week to ensure the content is not forgotten. The student will be advised to recall the topic every other day until the next session and a short 5-minute pop-quiz will be set at the start of the next session.

It is incredibly important that the student is comfortable and enjoying the sessions therefore, some parts of the session will be more informal and others will be in exam conditions to ensure the student also experiences and learns how to manage their time under pressure.

About Me

As a recent first-class Biochemistry graduate working as an intern in Financial Audit and Value for Money (VFM) at the UK National Audit Office, I have experience working in many fields, from medicine to tutoring to auditing. I have had experience as a glider pilot through my Gliding scholarship, I have worked with my genetics lecturer as a laboratory module developer and I have also been an activity leader in an international summer school. I, therefore, hold a spectrum of transferrable skills with a wealth of knowledge in Biochemistry which I can bring to the students.

I have had previous experience tutoring the younger years during my A-levels where my students had shown remarkable improvement in their understanding of the Biology AS level syllabus, going from a grade D to a high B in one month. In addition to this, I informally tutored first year Biochemistry students during my third year of university. This was not only for academic content but also for laboratory tasks, skills and revision methods.

I am planning on studying Clinical Neuroscience at University College London (UCL), therefore, seeking an tutoring role which I can do alongside my degree.

Mavi
Science tutoring for children and teenagers: IGCSE, IB, and GCSE
I am Mavi, a physics engineer working at an aerospace company. I have been teaching private lessons at the primary, secondary, high school, and university preparatory levels for 9 years. I teach mathematics, physics, chemistry, and science. I have a good command of the curricula of IB, IGCSE, American, Hong Kong, and international schools. Additionally, I hold the position of president at the Astronomy Society, where I foster my students' interest in astronomy and science beyond the lessons. I prepare the learning environment by incorporating experiments and exploration, moving away from rote education. I often bring experimental materials to class, aiming to make learning memorable through hands-on experiments. As an educational mentor, I approach my students as if they were my siblings, valuing creativity. I have a deep passion for mathematics, physics, and science. I am dedicated to helping students understand and learn because life encompasses both SCIENCE and ART. The more people I can inspire to know, understand, and love mathematics, physics, and chemistry, the more proud I am. Are you curious about how nature works? Let's explore together!

Private Lessons, Tutoring - Mathematics and Science
Dear Parents, You have come here seeking help for your child, and you have made the right decision. Public schools play a crucial role in our education, but sometimes they lack the necessary resources to cater to each student individually. I, too, experienced a challenging academic journey for this very reason. My struggles were not greater than those of others, but the rigid schedule limited my ability to fully flourish. Fortunately, with the support of my parents, I had the opportunity to attend a private school and fulfill my childhood dream of becoming a chemist. I am now a chemist who holds a degree from EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology), and on April 11, 2019, I successfully defended a doctoral thesis in experimental physics at the University of Geneva (UNIGE). However, all this knowledge is only valuable if it can be effectively communicated. As you know, communication is an essential aspect of teaching. There are teachers who can be uninteresting, and then there are others whose passion is contagious. I have often observed that teachers who manage to ignite their students' interest take the time to provide context for what they teach. This approach often sparks curiosity in students, leading them to engage willingly. Your child's studies are a serious matter, you are right to look for solutions. Best regards, Julien

Biology teacher from primary level to understate level
Hello, I am an enthusiastic and driven tutor who specialises in biology and genetics from secondary education all the way to undergraduate level. I graduated last year with a first-class Biology degree from one of the UK's top universities. I also received full marks in my Biology A-Level. My teaching style is direct, detail-orientated and tailored to your specific requirements. I have a wealth of previous tutoring experience. I have studied learning and development in detail, which puts me in an excellent position to give learning strategies, exam preparation and motivation advice. During my own time at university, I have learned that knowledge is no use without correct application. As such, I encourage all my students to bring out their full potential through their exam technique and planning skills.

Biology - one to one biology tuition for A Level/GSCE students
I've been working as a tutor in chemistry and biology primarily alongside my full time employment and studies for 6 years. I've supported students through their GCSEs, A Levels, and generally with confidence in these subject areas and beyond. I work with students one on one in a tailored programme to meet their individual needs. We'll have an initial session to discuss what I can help with and then figure out a plan based on goals and upcoming exams. The work is completely personalised and I work alongside my students to make sure we are matching learning styles and preferences, whilst working towards particular grades/goals.

George
Tutoring for Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Geography, RS, Physics, and English
I am a UCL Biological Sciences student seeking to offer a highly personalised tutoring experience that caters to my students' needs. I currently teach from Year 7 upwards with a speciality in exam preparation. I teach Geography, RS, Physics, and English from Years 7-11, and Mathematics, Biology, and Chemistry from Years 7-13. I aim to understand my tutees' unique concerns and explain concepts simply with many alternative approaches. As someone who has experienced obstacles to my own learning, I have a lot of empathy for students struggling with their learning, particularly those with learning differences and endeavour to develop an approach that works for them. I was a strong student in secondary school (Queen’s College, London) achieving A*s and As (and equivalents) at GCSE and three As at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Particularly of note, I received a 9 in GCSE Mathematics, 98% in GCSE Religious Studies, and was awarded a sixth-form academic scholarship. I am an experienced tutor - I participated in a tutoring scheme in secondary school which allowed students from Year 7 to Year 12 to ask any questions they might be struggling with in any subject they wished. This allowed me to continue to engage with my GCSE content during my A-Level years and taught me how to listen to and understand the particular needs of each student at a given moment. I also tutored family and friends of family, allowing me to engage personally with my students and develop a specialised teaching approach. I offer one hour and two hour sessions and am free on weekends, after 5pm, and whenever my university timetable permits. I am generally free at all times outside of university term time.

Rayane
Professor of mathematics, physics and chemistry, biology
A good teacher is above all a good pedagogue. I teach maths, physics, chemistry and science. My students come from all walks of life, from disadvantaged backgrounds and from the best schools in France and the UK. My approach is pragmatic and based on a real close relationship, which is essential to train and motivate the student. My experience and my mastery of the subjects taught allow me to establish quantitative objectives to which I commit myself contractually. The priority is of course to ensure that the student achieves better results, but also to help him/her define his/her future project and to reinforce his/her confidence, which is essential to any success. In this perspective, I establish a relationship of complicity and exchange in order to transform him into an actor of his future and to prepare him for the challenges of the professional world. Methodology : After an initial diagnosis during the intake, I establish quantified objectives to which I commit. The courses are tailored to the expectations and needs of the student and parents. I try to make the lessons "lively", orderly and efficient. Between each lesson, exercises are given and then corrected in order to follow the evolution of progress. Finally, I will anticipate the lessons of the school program, so that when the teacher starts a new chapter in class, the student already has a first apprehension of the course before the other students, allowing him to have more understanding and ease. In the year 2021, 100% of my final year students passed their bac (A Levels), 60% of them with honours or very good. Many have gone on to enter top business and engineering schools. Courses are available for all levels from secondary school to high school. As far as my background is concerned, I first studied medicine and then went on to study engineering in the field of civil engineering. After graduating with a Master's degree, I went on to teach in a private secondary school in France, where I am perfectly familiar with the new secondary school programmes. I am contractually committed to results. To your future success.

Alnishyia
Maths & Science Tuition with Tutor of 10 years experience
I have experience in teaching mathematics and science from IGCSE, GCSE and A-Level all the way up to the challenging I am very familiar with the GCSE syllabus having gone through the O’Levels and A’Levels in Singapore myself. When teaching mathematics and science, I believe that doing a lot of practice is the best way to learn; it’s how I’ve always studied the subject, from GCSE all the way up to university level. I understand the common issues students have with mathematics and science at every level, and I tailor my teaching to the needs of each individual student. When teaching GCSE and A level, I like to first go over any conceptual issues students may have, before moving on to exercises. Going through examples can often uncover misunderstandings, as well as provide clarity, and hence a balance of both is required. I work with a combination of weak and strong students from many well-known schools in Singapore and also international schools in London. I am keen to provide you with lessons that are highly personalised to your ability and goals – just let me know which areas you'd like to work on! Some students come with an idea of which topics they would like to improve on, in which case we can work on any theory questions they have and go through example problems they may be struggling with. For other students, it may be best to start with the exercises, and use these to spark discussion and teaching when we encounter difficulties. Often, it is a combination of time spent grappling with the content/theory and working through example questions together that helps the most!
