I am a bio-environmental scientist (Ph.D.) with over 12 years' experience teaching secondary school and university courses in biology (AP Biology, Introductory Biology for majors and non-majors, Environmental Science, Plant Biology/Botany, and Marine Biology). I am also experienced teaching high school French and English as a Second Language. I take a multi-media approach at interactive education, using personalised presentations, critical thinking assignments, and student-led discussions to convey complex topics through enjoyable exercises. My teaching philosophy is centred on tying educational topics to real-life experiences. The more we understand about the word around us, the more fun we have through life!

Hello, everyone! I'm a bio-environmental scientist from the lush and balmy City of Atlanta in the USA. I currently live in Amsterdam where I teach online biology and environmental science courses. The natural world has fascinated me since I was a child, going on long nature walks with my father and helping my mom in her garden. I was so excited to learn that the green stuff growing on the surface of lakes was made of single-celled organisms, my parents bought me my first microscope when I was 10 years old!

At university, I studied Environmental Science, Biology, and French. After a short stint working in France, I came back to Atlanta where I completed a Master's and Ph.D. in Biology, studying how special plants and microorganisms can be used to help clean up pollution like heavy metals and oil spills. After my studies, I worked for six years as an environmental planner for my state government.

I love teaching as much as I love doing science! It's really fun to help students make sense out of complex concepts like "how do plants make their food?", or "why do I have different colour eyes from my siblings?", or "what does climate change mean?".

I was born in Italy, but for the last two years of my life I have traveled the world, mainly in Central and South America and the Middle East, traveling and working remotely.

Bonjour,

I'm of mixed French and Polish origins and I've been living in Paris for many years. I hold a PhD degree in French Literature from Sorbonne University and I've been teaching French and English since 2013. During my class, you will learn how to communicate effectively - and in order to speak, you'll need to practice! I have a passion for French culture, literature, music, film and theatre, and I believe that it's through culture and experiencing the language directly in everyday life that you really immerse yourself in a language.
