Hi, I'm Federica, I am Italian and I am a jazz piano player and singer, I studied at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. I'm doing my Master at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I give piano jazz/pop/classical piano lessons but my main goal is to try to give to the student a general underestanding of the music in order to approach every style and to have fun with music! I really love to work with children, I like to teach them good values like patience, selfe-confidence, trust, communication, collaboration, all through the music. That's what I learn every day by studying music and that's what I would like to transfer to my students. I've been told that If you have music in your life, you can't be a bad person. As a Cambridge University graduate in the Faculty of Education, I am delighted to have settled down in the Netherlands since September 2019. I started piano at the age of 5, and music has been an important part of my life ever since. Classically trained as a pianist and violinist, I picked up another instrument named Erhu (Chinese violin) and became a professional performer. I am experienced in teaching both children and adults, from different cultural backgrounds. Also, I have been actively involved in both Western and Chinese orchestra since high school. Thanks to my years of experience in being an orchestra member and soloist, I am familiar with orchestral music. As a humble music therapist, I am passionate about music and believe in the power of music. I trust that music is in everybody and I respect every student's individuality and thus tailor my teaching methods to develop my students' full potential. I started teaching in 2009 and most students put their trust in me when they first decided to learn an instrument. I also enjoy exploring the world of music with students with learning disabilities. I am proud to say, my students, aged from 5 to 60, are enthusiastic in playing the instrument they have chosen and keen to improve their skills following my advice. I adopt a flexible approach in teaching - I believe every student is unique and my job is to develop the strengths and improve the weaknesses. I put a lot of emphasis on a solid foundation in my teaching. For young children, I tend to use a more interactive approach to explain complicated music theories, yet strict in the fundamentals such as posture and rhythm. For adults, I am always happy to discuss with them my lesson plan and choose the best exercises and songs that suit their music interests and needs. For my students who would like to take exams, I am happy to tailor the lessons based on their progress. I believe in the quality of learning and understanding rather than the number of pieces that they learn. Many beginners and their parents have put their trusts in me and achieved distinction in their first ABRSM exam. I am fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, and a native speaker of Cantonese Chinese. My teaching method is flexible and always aimed at the needs of the student. As well as the instrument technique I would suggest an in-depth study in ear training, theory music and repertoire. The lesson is about teaching by involving the student in a fun and well outlined path, without forgetting the joy of learning and making music. I've being teaching saxophone, improvisation, theory music and clarinet (for beginners) for all ages and abilities for almost 10 years now and, depending on which path the student is looking for, I will be thrilled to share and pass on the knowledge I have acquired throughout my teaching and artistic career.

I am a graduating student at Conservatorium van Amsterdam studying jazz piano under the supervision of the masters in the school. I have experience in teaching beginners how to start improvising. You can trust me, I will push you and make you learn it. Improvisation can be learned if the right tools are offered to the beginner. I know what methodology works for upbringing a beginner to start improvising, swinging, composing a tune. I can guide through all the scales that jazz musicians use, common chord harmonies used by Bud Powell, Mccoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock - and most importantly ideas behind it; or you might think you know scales and can't use them in creative way, I will teach you how to make it a logical language. Swing is the most important element in improvising in a jazz context, and I will guide you on how to practice getting the swing feel, that drives jazz music. Generally, I give lots of assignments, papers, so it would be nice the student knows how to read sheet music. Former student at the Paris conservatory in piano, jazz/improvisation/classic and graduate of a bachelor's degree in music and musicology from La Sorbonne University, I would be delighted to share with you my passion for music. I already have a very good experience in teaching as I have taught in private schools and as a home teacher in Paris, with students ranging from 5 to 40 years old, and that over than seven years of teaching. Whether you are an avid music lover or a student at the conservatory wanting to improve your musical analysis, I will always approach my teaching in an entertaining and not too academic way. Having had very different student profiles during my teaching, I will adapt to the needs of the student but also to their level. In classic piano I can teach both beginners and intermediates. In jazz piano/improvisation up to advanced Music theory and analysis up to very advanced (we can analyse a non-functional musical language, modal and even Schoenberg if you fancy it) But that's not all. As I am currently a student at Abbey Road Institute, but also hold a master's degree in Computer Music from Gustave Eiffel University, I can teach you music production and post-production. The subject matter is quite vast but with my studies at conservatories, university and school I can mix many areas of music that lead to composition and computer production. I am very comfortable with Logic Pro, so if you are a beginner, or advanced we can always find something to play with. (for the more advanced for example: bus architecture, preset, template, workflow...) I can also teach protools and mixing at intermediate to advanced level. I would be delighted to pass on my musical knowledge to you whether it is instrumental, theoretical or computer production.

This class will be about learning fundamentals of music by learning songs and topics that will be discussed. The topics we can discuss in the lessons will be - Learning tunes (Pop, Folk and Rock to Jazz Standards) - Sight reading - Theory (harmony, meter, tempo, form, key, scales) - Improvisation - Ear training (developing to recognise different intervals, scales, chord progression and being able to sight-sing) If requested, we can talk about other musical topics, too!
