Whether you are just starting to play the saxophone, or are an experienced player looking to expand your knowledge, I can help you!

My teaching approach is tailored to the student's needs and goals.
Are you a prospective conservatory student preparing for your entrance exam? Or an amateur musician just looking to improve your saxophone playing? We can figure out the right lesson length, schedule, and study materials just for you.

As a teacher I strongly believe in providing the student with solid fundamental skills - getting a nice sound, good posture, relaxed technique, etc. From there we can work on whatever the student is interested in, the #1 priority being nourishing their love for music!

Besides working on the saxophone playing itself, I am also there to help the student develop their ear, musical intuition, sense of rhythm and melody, and discover new music to expand their horizons.

Informations supplémentaires

The student should bring their own saxophone, with the necessary parts and accessories - mouthpiece, ligature, reeds, harness and cleaning cloth. If the student needs help with any of this, I can help them find the right gear for their needs.

Hi!

My name is Matteo, I'm a professional bassist from Brussels, currently based in Amsterdam.
I perform and have performed with renowned musicians and bands from many different scenes and styles, bringing me to venues all over the world (USA, UK, Germany, Denmark, France, Romania, Portugal, Spain...).
I have a deep passion for music ever since I started playing 16 years ago, and would like to share it with you!
Bass is the best! And I want to help you uncover it's full potential.
I believe the best way to learn music is to study what you love, and always work from a place of curiosity and passion.
Therefore, we will always look together for ways of making the process the most enjoyable and tackle different topics through the music YOU love. The classes are tailored to each individual student: we find the best workflow for you, and adapt the lessons. If you need structure and a clear program, I can provide that; but if you prefer to keep it loose and see as we go, it's all good. All that matters is your continued motivation and progress.
Among other things, we can focus on:
-Basic technique on the instrument
-Learning songs of your choice, with a method that will allow you to learn songs by yourself later on.
-Learn about different styles: Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Metal, Jazz...
-Develop your understanding of music through the instrument (scales, arpeggios...)
-Creativity, and improvisation through the use of the material we have studied together
-Ear training and music theory
-Rhythm, all the way from basic to very advanced
-Basic compositional techniques, or fun ways to start composing

I have been teaching privately for the past 6 years, with very happy students. I can also teach online if it's better, I also have regular online students with whom we are making great progress.

For the lesson, there is no need to bring an instrument: I can lend you one.

"As one of the most popular and accessible instruments in today's musical landscape, the guitar spans a wide range of genres and its incredible sonic possibilities have made it a key instrument over the past 60 years. ." Eh?! What?!! Let's stop the blabla... Guitar is killing! Everyone loves it (that's probably why you're here) and I'm guessing you're like "How can I learn some of this crazy guitar stuff without selling one of my kidneys to some creepy guy on Youtube".

Well... I'm not offering you the rock 'n' roll lifestyle, sprinkled with angel dust and full of groupies languidly waiting for you backstage, but I can at least offer you an organized guitar lesson based on a comprehensive approach to the instrument, targeted to your musical aspirations... In other words: what YOU like! I sincerely believe that the most effective way to learn music is to delve into what you love and explore it with passion and dedication. We will always start from the songs you like, step by step, following your workflow. My goal is simply to give you the best tips and tricks so that you can enjoy playing the songs you love or, if you wish, organize your guitar practice in the most efficient way.

MOST IMPORTANT: I love to jam so be prepare to play some music :-).

Together we will tackle various topics, we can also focus on:
- Learn a song and be able to do it by yourself later.
- Explore different musical styles: Pop, Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz...
- Guitar techniques using scales, triads and arpeggios.
- Understand harmony and how to build chords.
- Use your ear as a tool to find new ideas.
- Being able to provide a nice and steady groove by studying rhythmic figures.
- Immerse yourself in the beautiful world of improvisation.
- Develop your intuition and your creativity as an improviser and apply it to the material you already know.

For more than 10 years now, I have been teaching students of different ages and levels, all very satisfied with the lessons. We could also do it online if that is more convenient for you.

I have been studying drums for nearly 15 years and have extensive knowledge across a wide range of musical genres. While this class is listed as focusing on jazz music, I am more than happy to explore other styles based on your interests.

We can work together to identify what you’d like to focus on, or if you prefer a more structured approach, I can provide exercises, play-alongs, and creative activities for both our lessons and your independent practice.
