Drum lessons with qualified and experienced teacher - all styles, all levels
Hello! My name is Aurel and I am a French Amsterdam-based drummer.
Although currently specialized in Jazz music, I have studied various esthetics, and Pop and Rock music, in particular, are part of my background (I played in several pop-rock bands). Therefore I am able to teach a broad panel of music styles. I also have many drum methods and charts at my disposal, and have experience in teaching children from the age of 6, as well as teenagers and adults.
Lessons and teaching method:
I always adapt to the student's tastes and learning profiles. This is why, during the first lesson, and on a regular basis afterwards, I always take time to discuss with my students (or their parents if they are very young) to figure out together the path they want or need to follow. I will use charts and methods for those who need visual support to assimilate the skills or teach by ear and by demonstrating to the ones who feel more comfortable this way. I also play electric guitar and can jam with my students, which is a great tool for developing band playing skills or simply to have a good time.
For those eager to make significant progress, I offer consistent and serious monitoring, with practice recommendations. I can for instance prepare a student for an audition or an entrance exam in a conservatory. If you are willing to improve your understanding of rhythm in general, you can also benefit from my knowledge of Indian Karnatic rhythm concepts, one of the most complete traditional approaches to rhythm.
Students who simply want to learn at their pace, to have fun and unwind, are definitely welcome too!
About me:
In addition to my jazz drums bachelor and master degrees from the conservatory of Amsterdam (CvA), which included a thorough pedagogical training and a specialization in Indian Karnatic techniques, I benefit from 4 years of experience as an employed drum teacher in two French associative music schools (Ecole de musique de Nangis and Conservatoire des Deux Rives, Moret-sur-Loing).
I am also an active musician, both on the Dutch and the French scene. My trio mainly tours in France and has played at venues such as the Sunside (Paris), or participated in competitions like the Keep An Eye International Jazz Award. I am also the co-leader of the sextet Chai Masters, finalist of several European competitions (Leiden Jazz Award, Golden Jazz Trophy in Lille, France, 7 Virtual Jazz Contest). Recently, the band was part of Keep An Eye The Records's finalists (March 2022).
Looking forward to meeting you and passing on my know-how to you!

About Me
I come from a small village, in the middle of French countryside. Fascinated by an old drumkit gathering dust in my uncle's house, and nourished by my parent's record and vinyl collection, I ended up taking drum and solfege lessons in the local music school. Coming from a non-professional musician family, I had to work my way up to enter the music middle, undertaking a journey that led me to live in Paris, Bruxelles, Philadelphia (US) and eventually Amsterdam. As a result, I can remember every step of my musical development very well. I moreover take advantage of this peculiarity in my pedagogy, either to clearly explain the subjects I intend to teach, or to precisely figure out the strengths, weaknesses and needs of a student. This ability was strengthened by a four-year experience as a teacher in associative music schools, with very diverse students ranging from five to forty years old.

Aurel is a fantastic teacher who puts your motivation center stage. As a complete beginner, I was able to quickly pick up playing, thanks to the way his lessons build up on one another. There's never a dull moment, he is clearly passionate about both drumming and teaching. Never before have I enjoyed learning an instrument this much. A big thank you Aurel!
Aurel is great. He was trying to put himself in my shoes and think of why something was not working. While he was giving his feedback, he was sharing it in a very clear and supportive way.
He also discussed with me what my goals are, he asked for samples of music and adjusted the class accordingly.
He also very kindly offered me his old sticks and taught longer that he should’ve.
Oh and he’s a fantastic drummer with very successful projects.
I’m very happy to be taking classes from him.
Aurel is very patient and nice with young kids. My son is 6 years old and he likes to go to Aurel's lessons and he has learned a lot! The most important thing is that my kid really enjoys playing and learning. Thanks again!

Saxophone lessons: Enjoy becoming an all-round musician (EN, HB, NL)
Enjoy becoming an independent & all-round musician!!
My aim as a Saxophone & music teacher is to give you the ability to develop skills that will make you enjoy "music-making" and love exploring all kinds of songs/musical pieces. Also, I give you tools to be able to cooperate with other musicians.
The methods I use are focused around goals that I create together with each individual student (and/or parents). Our goals are based on both the student's passion & musical desires together with the technical needs to make these desires sound! (control over the instrument, reading music notation, music theory, Improvisation, composition, ear-training and more). Music is a powerful language that everyone around the world can understand, but not all can speak yet...
Music-making involves Joy, curiosity, self-expression and a feeling of being a part of something bigger than yourself!
Practical Info:
- A trial first lesson is indeed an option!
- Normally, lessons take place at my location in Amsterdam. (call to discuss other options)
- I work with both kids (from age 8/9) and adults, (total) beginners, amateurs & semiprofessionals alike
- I play & teach: Soprano, Alto, Tenor & Baritone Saxophones (Flute & Bass-Clarinet for beginners as well)
** FOR PARENTS **
- Music making teaches you about how to build long-lasting dedication & successful work ethics that can be implemented throughout life, in any filed!
- Music teaches you how to express thoughts & feelings and can be important for a growth of a child.
- Music is a rich lifestyle, and opening a child to that world is a great gift that a parent can give to his/her child.

Cello, singing and theory lessons from bilingual Welsh and English speaker
Hi my name is Osian and I’m a cellist from South Wales. I’ve taught children of many ages and standards and I really feel privileged to be a part of someone’s musical and personal development. Music lessons can be a way of reaching the concert platform or it could be a way of expressing yourself and being creative, wether it’s a career path or not.
I grew up playing and singing where my first priority was to fall in love with music and learn to perform it to the best standard that I could do and that’s what I’d like to encourage my students to aim for too.
I’m a BMus Hons Scholar from
The Royal Academy of Music and I’m not studying at a masters lever at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

Want to play Classical or Jazz piano ? or Music theory and why not music production ?
Former student at the Paris conservatory in piano, jazz/improvisation/classic and graduate of a bachelor's degree in music and musicology from La Sorbonne University, I would be delighted to share with you my passion for music.
I already have a very good experience in teaching as I have taught in private schools and as a home teacher in Paris, with students ranging from 5 to 40 years old, and that over than seven years of teaching.
Whether you are an avid music lover or a student at the conservatory wanting to improve your musical analysis, I will always approach my teaching in an entertaining and not too academic way. Having had very different student profiles during my teaching, I will adapt to the needs of the student but also to their level.
In classic piano I can teach both beginners and intermediates.
In jazz piano/improvisation up to advanced
Music theory and analysis up to very advanced (we can analyse a non-functional musical language, modal and even Schoenberg if you fancy it)
But that's not all.
As I am currently a student at Abbey Road Institute, but also hold a master's degree in Computer Music from Gustave Eiffel University, I can teach you music production and post-production. The subject matter is quite vast but with my studies at conservatories, university and school I can mix many areas of music that lead to composition and computer production.
I am very comfortable with Logic Pro, so if you are a beginner, or advanced we can always find something to play with. (for the more advanced for example: bus architecture, preset, template, workflow...)
I can also teach protools and mixing at intermediate to advanced level.
I would be delighted to pass on my musical knowledge to you whether it is instrumental, theoretical or computer production.

Dwarsfluit lessen voor alle leeftijden & niveau's!
Hallo daar!

Piano/Music theory/Composition & Arranging lessons tailored to your needs and wishes
Hello, this is Seen! I am a pianist, composer and arranger from Hong Kong, currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I am offering piano and music theory lessons tailored to your needs and wishes.
Perhaps you are an enthusiastic adult beginner, or you want to pick it up again after not touching the instrument for some time? Or perhaps you are looking for a teacher for your child? I have been giving music lessons for the past 9 years to students at different levels aging from 5 to 60. I understand that we all approach music in various ways and everyone needs different styles of guidance. I am looking forward to getting to know you and experiment with how I can help you along the way.
Perhaps you want to play pieces from the classical repertoire? Or perhaps you want to acquire the skill of learning your favourite pop songs by ear, or learn to read lead sheets and chord symbols? Perhaps you want to learn to accompany yourself singing? Perhaps you want to learn improvisation over chord progressions? As a musician grew up with classical music training and later moved on to explore jazz and pop, I enjoy helping you to deepen your understanding about different styles and to have fun with playing!
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to improve your piano technique, but get turned off by studies and scale practice? Perhaps you wish to acquire a stronger sense of rhythm or a more sophisticated control of sound? In my experience, advanced technique comes along with a tension-free body and mental space, and we can work on that together. I also find creating unique musical exercises that adapts to students’ needs makes the learning process more enjoyable.
Perhaps you would love to integrate music into your daily life, but find it challenging to keep the momentum and interest in a long term? I try to structure our lessons so that students can see steady progress. I also understand that incorporating a habit can be a tricky part, so we can also develop study and practice plans together and explore ways to make your practice time more efficient.
Perhaps you not only want to learn the instrument, but are also interested about the theories behind the music? Perhaps you want to learn some basic arranging skills and write for an ensemble that you play with? Perhaps you want to try composing your own music? As a composer and arranger, I would also love to share my experience on these subjects with you.
Music is an enormous universe and there are always new territories to explore. I’m still a student on this journey, and I’m more than excited to share my experience and accompany you on your way!

Music lessons: Double bass, bass guitar. Jazz, classical and world-music. Learn how to study
Hey there! In my lessons, what you want is the most important. That's why we create together a plan of study with ideas, goals and subjects to reach out our dream to make music (that's also my dream)
Nevertheless, I can give you an overview of the content:
I divide the music theory in two: Technical and Musical.
Technical Theory regarding all the concepts and information related to music, and Musical Theory regarding the ideas and concepts to help us understand and improve the performance of music. Besides that, we look to harmony in a functional, rhythmical and organic way. We learn and approach music from the first lesson, looking at it from different angles (understanding rhythm and essence of a song for example). All this plus a nice diet of assignments and exercises: D
Furthermore, we put especial attention to enjoying music. That means playing but also listening music! For me, that's one of the best ways to learn :)
And of course, we learn as well by making mistakes, so at the end it's all about fun and trying things out;)
Remember: "True success isn't just getting what you want in life - it's liking what you get";)

Violin lessons for beginners to advanced, & music theory lessons.
Private lessons for beginners to advanced level of violin playing. All ages are welcome. I am a professionally trained teacher and violinist for almost two decades. My lessons are given in English, Spanish and (soon) Dutch and French.
My teaching method is variable depending on the students' needs, but the goal is shared: to make a great musician and qualified violinist out of the pupil. I work on both technical and musical aspects from a (very) consciously prepared healthy and enjoyable perspective. Particular emphasis on having fun with the little ones!
I pay special attention to creating a personalized education and experience for every one of my students. I also give some additional tools applicable to the violin playing which includes: Introduction to Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique and Body & Mind. All the basic theory is taught too.
Occasionally, there are student concerts and collaborations with other teachers. (These may include some teachers from the Sweelinck Academy or the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and more).
From among the required tools for my lessons are: a violin and a bow, score and books purchases when necessary, and, from time to time, meetings with the parents. On occasion, I use digital tools like phone/tablet apps.
I can teach in various places near or in the centre of Amsterdam, or, depending on the need, I can move to pretty much wherever in The Netherlands.
About the homework, I send it to the students on a weekly basis and encourage them to participate on competitions and summer music courses. As always, this is conditional on the pupil's stage.

Saxophone lessons (Jazz and Classical) - Improvisation - Music Theory (All levels)
My teaching method is flexible and always aimed at the needs of the student.
As well as the instrument technique I would suggest an in-depth study in ear training, theory music and repertoire. The lesson is about teaching by involving the student in a fun and well outlined path, without forgetting the joy of learning and making music.
I've being teaching saxophone, improvisation, theory music and clarinet (for beginners) for all ages and abilities for almost 10 years now and, depending on which path the student is looking for, I will be thrilled to share and pass on the knowledge I have acquired throughout my teaching and artistic career.
