Piano, Transverse Flute and Musical Language Classes

In this course, I will teach you the first steps to start playing classical piano. We will begin to do some hand placement exercises, scales, arpeggios and different exercises and then begin to play simple works, which will become more complicated over time. The duration of the classes in principle is 1 hour. If you would like less or more time, we can manage it. In principle the classes are taught in my studio, but everything could be discussed. Depending on the area I could move.

A young and enthusiastic tutor who has more than 15 years of experience in musical performance, who is constantly developing her skills and learning new instruments (currently, violin and guitar :). I come from Ukraine and have a diploma from a completed 8-year piano, music theory and choir degree from Russian and Ukrainian musical academies. I am very proud of the educational background I have since my teachers had always been very strict yet fair with their ways of teaching, which gave me a strong base as a musician, and, later on, as a tutor. Moreover, I have studied psychology here in Spain for 3 years at a university, so I get on well with many different personalities and know how to approach stressful situations. I must mention that I am passionate about spending my time with kids and sharing the skills and experience I have with people. I speak Spanish, but offer classes in English, so my students can also practice their English while in the class. Of course, if the student prefers to keep it in Spanish, it is not a problem for me. I am happy to help beginners with meeting piano for the first time, as well as tutoring students with some experience to help them with practising at home, pointing out the most crucial areas of improvement in order to reach the best result possible. I have finished my Master degree in Piano at the Conservatori del Liceu (Barcelona) this year, and I have many years of experience teaching, children and younger students, as well as adult people. Musical language classes (Harmony, Literacy, Rhythm, Auditory Training) for school reinforcement or self-interest. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

The theory of everything tends to be really scary and music theory can be too. I am very keen to make music theory easy for everyone. For some people there is only one way to tackle the unmentionable but I believe there are many different approaches and one of them will click with you. It is simply finding out what is best for each person. Once we find the key we can unlock the problems that have puzzled you for ages. Music theory needs to be more than a requirement, it needs to be the way to really appreciate the music you are playing.
