Our world constantly changes and so does Language. Sociocultural Linguistics, as a discipline, will let you understand this tight relationship between society and language and how this relationship works. This is why discourses that involve social minorities and questions of class, race, gender, sex and age enter this subject, which, on turn, tries to analyze the way in which these discourses are structured linguistically. A strong emphasis is given to the link between language and idenity, so, through my lessons, you will be offered different tools to critically analyze the way in which people construct their identity in discourse and how language influences social dynamics and viceversa. Themes such as power dynamics, sexuality and gender issues will be discussed starting from language and its hidden mechanisms. My lessons are suitable for teenagers intrested in Gender Studies and professionals who want to gain a broader perspective around the notions of inclusive language and equality for thier business, but also for seniors who are eager to know something more about the connection between Liguistics and Sociology.
