About Me

I was born in Germany (1988) and raised in Greece. As an active chamber music performer and flute pedagogue I obtained my Master in Performance at the "LUCA School of Arts" campus Lemmensinstituut (BE) under the supervision of Berten D’Hollander.

I offer high quality lessons at all levels. I currently teach at the "International german scool" in Wezembeek-Oppem and at the "European School of Brussels II". My main goal is to offer to my students joy in music and teach them through music also life.

Lessons can begin at the age of 4 based on the Suzuki method using special flutes which are suitable for the child.

Education

Master in Performance at the "LUCA School of Arts" campus Lemmensinstituut (BE).

I have participated in masterclasses with J.Galway, Robert Winn, William Bennett, Thies Roada, Carlo Jans, Trevor Wye, Matthias Ziegler, András Adorján, Rachel Brown, Wissam Boustany, Jean-Claude Gérard and Janos Balint.

Frequently invited as a jury member several times at the “Jugend Musiziert” competition.

With my ensemble FLAURIMBA flute&marimba (Fiona Foo Pui-yee) I am actively performing in Greece, Germany, Belgium, and Portugal.

Despite my classical education, I am extending my musical horizons with flute jazz classes by Stefan Bracaval.

As a pedagogue, I am active seeking years for the ideal method of teaching. I follow regularly flute seminars and workshops with special interest at the "Suzuki Method" and the "Blocki Flute method".

As a Suzuki Flute teacher, I am member of the “Suzuki Fluit Vlaanderen-vzw” association, the first flutist in Greece qualified to teach Suzuki Flute. and the founder of the:
International Flute Studio in Belgium: "Flute Up Your Life".

I am experienced in teaching since 2012 from the age of 4 years old with the Suzuki Method and from the age of 12 years old traditionally with a personal approach adapting to the needs of each individual.

As an experienced music teacher, I offer recorder and music theory lessons for children and adults of all ages and skill levels!

Originally from Brazil, I have been teaching music for several years. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, I have extensive experience as a music teacher, having given private lessons and taught in music academies in Belgium and elsewhere. I develop a unique method for each student so that they can learn in a solid and enjoyable way.

The recorder is an easy instrument to learn, making it a great opportunity for children to begin their musical journey. It provides an initial introduction to musical notation and helps develop their ear. I offer students a fun and dynamic learning experience, where music is made from the very first lesson.

For adults... If you're a beginner, don't worry!
I will teach you how to produce the first sounds on your new instrument, how to blow correctly, how to adopt a good posture, etc. I will help you build, step by step, a solid basic technique that will allow you to play any piece on the flute.

If you are an advanced student or already possess a solid foundation in your instrument, I propose working on refining your technique, taking into account each repertoire. We will explore creativity and sound to produce an increasingly beautiful and eloquent musical expression.

Lessons can take place at the student's home or the teacher's home in Forest. Travel expenses are negotiable depending on the distance.

My name is Matteo and I am an Italian flutist and musicologist, based in Brussels since 2010. I graduated in modern flute at 'B. Marcello' Conservatory in Venice and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Barthold Kuijken and Frank Theuns in the Baroque flute. I hold a master degree in Philosophy and Musicology as well.

I hold a PhD degree in music performance at Cardiff University, School of Music.

From 2013 till 2015, I have been teaching at the Venice Conservatory "B. Marcello", giving yearly lectures and seminaries on the historical repertoire for the flute. Since 2021, I have been appointed music curator of Coudenberg Sound Box Fest, a music festival which aims at celebrating the Belgian music heritage and takes place every year at the beautiful archeological site of the former Royal Palace of Brussels.

I recorded for Warner Classics & Erato, and a soloist for Arcana/Outhere Music ('La solitude à deux. Solos and duets by G. P. Telemann' in 2018 and 'Affect is no Crime. New music for old instruments' in 2019).

I regularly play with leading ensembles and orchestras such as Millennium Orchestra (Leonardo Garcia Alarcon), Vox Luminis (Lionel Meunier), Les Muffatti (Peter van Heyghen), Coro & Orchestra Ghislieri (Giulio Prandi), Le Concert d'Anvers (Bart van Reyn), B.O.X. I obtained my Master degee in Flute a bec (Recorder) at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels. I had already an Italian Master degree.
I like teaching music and Recorder.
I think I could teach music with really funny methods,starting to read music with nice books, to do general exercises for everybody. The shinobue is a flute that is used in street music but also in more sophisticated artistic performances. Japanese music has developed its own conception of beauty. Learning this music is a way to enter Japanese culture!

Traditionally, Japanese music is learned orally through shoga (a song using onomatopoeia). During the course, you also experience this method and will learn several types of music.

I started the shinobue class 9 months ago. After several lessons, I mastered the basic techniques under Nozomi's patient teaching. I started playing several scores with the other students. Together we participated in an end of year show. I am very happy to have the opportunity to share the delicate sound of shinobue with others. I am a professional flutist with over 5 years of experience in teaching. I have worked with people aged 5 to 75 and taught in five different languages: English, German, Ukrainian, Polish, and French.
