Help with Math and Physics Course Material, Homework and Exam Prep

I would like to help with middle school and high school level (GCSE, A-levels and IB) mathematics and physics tutorials. I am happy to provide full lectures with solved examples, help with homework, give feedback and answer student's questions on the school syllabus or even beyond the syllabus, when I can be of assistance. Before beginning regular sessions with students I would like to have a casual meeting with them in which I could familiarise myself with their situation and their needs and we would get to know each other. I'm resident in Edinburgh and can occasionally provide in-person tutorials in the Edinburgh area. Whenever in-person sessions are not possible, we can also work online.

About Me

Hi! I am a friendly and energetic PhD student at the University of Edinburgh, who has been tutoring Maths and Physics at GCSE, IB and A-level, as well as introduction to university mathematics

Brief highlights:
In July 2021 I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematical Physics from the University of Southampton with a first class, earning the Dean's List award and the Hermann Jahn Prize for academic achievement in mathematical physics. During my final year of undergraduate study I was working as a teaching assistant in mathematics workshops, where I helped freshmen students with material and coursework in Linear Algebra and Vector Calculus. Last summer (2021) I worked as a Mary Lister McCammon research fellow at Imperial College London, before attending Part III Maths at the University of Cambridge. In summer 2022 I was a tutor for Oxford Summer Courses. I devised, ran and taught courses on Calculus and Differential Equations and Dynamics and Relativity to 18-24 year olds from all over the globe. Later on, I joined JD consultancy to help school kids excel in their maths and physics examinations and greatly increase their chances to study at top universities in the UK and elsewhere.

I believe science should be accessible to everyone. I am keen to make students excited about maths and physics!

KS3/GCSE/A Level Science/Chemistry/Biology/Maths tutoring
About my tutoring: In my tutoring sessions, I will work with students to help them achieve their best grades. A typical lesson will include understanding content, mastering exam technique, and attempting and improving past exam question answers. I believe the best way to learn is in an active and engaging way, so this is how my classes will be, with lots of discussions and active recall to ensure understanding and embedding of knowledge and skill is maximised. About me: I am a current undergraduate student studying biology and chemistry at Cambridge University, so I understand the difficulty and pressure of exams and want to help students prepare and take away some of that worry and stress. I truly understand the best ways to prepare and revise for GCSEs and A Levels, and have straight grade 9s and A*s to prove this. I have approximately one year's experience in tutoring, so am equipped to help students achieve their best.

I have 4 years of experience tutoring Biology, Chemistry and Science up to A-levels. This lessons are for after-school support. My tutoring lessons involve helping out with assignments, revising content given in class as well as extra content if required by the student, and exam preparation. I really enjoyed teaching these subjects as it is what I pursued further at University. I like to make my lessons as engaging as possible to motivate students to do their best.

Juliette
Maths lessons by doctoral student at Cambridge graduated from Imperial
Hello, I am a PhD candidate in Biostatistics PhD at Cambridge. My first integrated Master's degree in Mathematics was carried out at Imperial College London, having received my diploma in 2021. I offer support and in-depth courses in maths for high school and college students, from the French and English system (up to Bac or up to GCSE). Having passed a Bac S Spé maths mention very well in 2017, and having followed students of the new Bac for the past two years, I am very comfortable with the recent programs of high school subjects. In addition, I have had experience in private lessons for 3 years, having followed in particular students from CE2, CM1, and from 4th to final, but also experience in childcare and teenagers. The students have all made progress after my follow-up. My teaching method consists of doing my best to make my students appreciate and understand the subject concerned, by going back to the teachers' lessons but with a calmer approach, based on standard exercises or annals for future graduates, to facilitate the assimilation of the course. My classes can vary from regular homework help to exam preparation. We will focus on the exercises and the annals; the study of math is like that of an instrument, you have to practice a lot and regularly. If interested, do not hesitate to contact me by private message. I am available during most of the summer holidays and on a regular basis from the start of the school year. Yours, Juliette

Private math lessons - Limoges or online - Qualified and experienced math teacher
I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have been giving private mathematics lessons daily for over ten years. The students who follow my private lessons benefit from personalized support. The first session is devoted to an in-depth assessment of the student's mathematical knowledge. The objective is to detect its weak points and understand their origin in order to adapt my courses to its needs. I develop a tailor-made remediation program for each of my students aimed at filling each of their gaps. Over the course of the sessions, the student builds a solid foundation for learning and regains self-confidence. At the same time, I help him acquire a work methodology that allows him to gradually become autonomous in his studies. I have a perfect knowledge of the mathematics program of the College and the High School (from the Sixth to the Terminale). During my formative years, I studied and developed many techniques that make it easier to learn math. The strength of my pedagogical approach lies in my ability to explain in a simple way everything that the student finds complicated. I am passionate about this job because it gives me the opportunity to guide dropout students on the path to success. It is a real pleasure to see them evolve and come to terms with the fantastic world of mathematics. I provide my private lessons in Limoges (at the student's home) or remotely (online via the internet). My distance learning courses take place on an interactive online whiteboard. This board is specially designed to promote student/teacher interaction on the internet. Thanks to this educational tool, my online courses are as effective as home courses. The student only needs an internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to take advantage of it.

Math support courses for high school students (Science Maths, Science Exp, Letters ...)
As a teaching professional, I have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge. My goal is to provide quality education. I am aware that some topics may seem complex, but often this is simply the result of an inadequate explanation by the teacher. With me, you will discover a real interest in the material! We strive together to achieve academic excellence, overcoming the shortcomings and difficulties encountered by your child. Studies will become a pleasant experience for him. In addition to the courses, I can also help with school orientation, identifying their preferences and highlighting the advantages and benefits of a fulfilling educational ambition. The sessions generally take place according to the following stages: 1️⃣ The first sessions are devoted to the assessment of the student's level in order to detect existing gaps. 2️⃣ Next, we create a personalized plan to address these gaps, including the number of hours of work needed, specific areas to focus on, and appropriate training and development exercises. 3️⃣ We stay in constant contact with the student's class teacher, to keep up to date with the latest requirements and ensure a consistent approach. 4️⃣ Subsequently, I provide exams similar to those that are likely to be asked in class, to prepare the student effectively. 5️⃣ Upon request, I write a regular report, usually monthly, to keep parents informed of their child's progress throughout their course. I adapt my methodology according to the specific needs of each student, thus offering them a personalized and adapted work approach. In addition, I offer crash courses for students preparing for the start of the school year, allowing them to start the year well prepared, with a solid lead on the school curriculum. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to help you.
