Bassoon Lessons Online/ Stuttgart Metropolitan Area (EN)
From 42.53 $ /h
Grüß Gott, bassoon students! My name is Logan, and I'm a bassoonist of 13 years originally from the Chicago area currently pursuing graduate study with Marc Engelhardt at the Hochschule für Musik, Stuttgart.
I'm offering bassoon lessons at all levels, whether you're just picking up the instrument for the first time or you're preparing yourself for a competition. I have nearly ten years of teaching experience in a wide variety of settings with a wide range of student ages, beginning with my work as a volunteer tutor early in high school and carrying on through my positions as an assistant conductor through the Peabody Preparatory and as a private academic tutor.
I currently make all of my own bassoon reeds from tube cane, and I have been finishing my own reed blanks for nearly ten years. I am proficient in both the German and American styles of blank-making and reed-finishing; I am prepared to teach one or both styles to appropriately-leveled students as necessary and as requested.

About Me
In 2025 and 2024, I was a bassoonist and contrabassoonist in l'Orchestre de la Francophonie of Montréal. I am also a 2023 alumnus of the Kent-Blossom Chamber Music Festival, where I studied with Prof. Barrick Stees, and a 2022 alumnus of the Eastern Music Festival, where I studied with George Sakakeeny and Karla Ekholm. I completed my undergraduate studies in 2024 and a Graduate Performance Diploma in 2025 under Prof. Brad Balliett at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where I was named a 2024-2025 recipient of the Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Orchestral Scholarship. During my time at Peabody, I served as an assistant conductor and assistant-at-large at the Peabody Preparatory and the Preparatory's Project Tuned-In. I am an alumnus of the Symphony Orchestra, Classical Orchestral Repertory Ensemble, and Ambassadors chamber music program of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, as well as a CORE alumnus of the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra. I am currently a student at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, studying bassoon under Professor Marc Engelhardt and contrabassoon and reed making under Professor Oskar Münchgesang. Outside of music, my interests include studying German and Mandarin, eating interesting foods, and caring for my 14-year-old chinchilla, Mogwai. I play on a 2005 Heckel CREST bassoon with a Heckel CC1XLR N S-Bocal.

Experience / Qualifications
I have nearly ten years of teaching experience in a wide variety of settings with a wide range of student ages, beginning with my work as a volunteer tutor early in high school and carrying on through my positions as an assistant conductor through the Peabody Preparatory and as a private academic tutor. Additionally, I have nearly two decades of experience taking private lessons for various instruments as a nearly life-long music student; the full range of my experiences over those two decades, from the best to the worst, deeply inform my pedagogical and inter-personal practice.
I currently make all of my own bassoon reeds from tube cane, and I have been finishing my own reed blanks for nearly ten years. I have trained in both Germany and the United States, and I am proficient in both the German and American styles of blank-making and reed-finishing; I am prepared to teach one or both styles to appropriately-leveled students as necessary and as requested.
