My lessons are student-focused, engaging and flexible! Lessons are continuously adapted according to your level, progress and personal preferences.

Lessons focus on the individual needs of the student, and will focus on different areas, for example: pronunciation refinement, general conversation practice, exam preparation, reading comprehension, writing correction, job interview preparation, etc.

Lessons normally last 45 - 60 minutes, and are done online via webcam (Zoom, Google Meet, or MS Teams). Requests for in person (face-to-face) lessons will be considered, and would normally take place at my home.

I offer lessons during the week, on weekends, and some evenings. Please contact me to arrange a time that suits you (my hours are quite flexible).

Education

My professional education includes a Practical Accounting diploma, a Bookkeeping diploma, the GradCG (Accounting Officer and Governance Professional) qualification, and the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting.

In 2007, I completed the TEFL Certificate course (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) at the Cape Town School of English.

To refresh my knowledge and enhance my techniques, I completed the ITA Online TEFL/TESOL Certification Course (through the International TEFL Academy) in 2020.

In 2022, I completed the Teaching Business English Certificate (through the International TEFL Academy).

For the past two decades, I've had the privilege of tutoring in both French and English. My students have ranged in age, background, and origin, spanning children, teenagers, adults, professionals, and even seniors aged 85 and above.

To the uninitiated, a grammar book seems to be written in another language because the meaning of the words is incomprehensible. In a down-to-earth way, I'll translate the grammar into familiar words. With my tailor-made teaching you will accelerate your learning while having a positive mindset.

You can book a complete course with regular sessions or individual lessons to overcome a specific problem, such as pronunciation or a particular point in grammar.

Learning a foreign language is not a linear process that consists of memorising a list of words, and speaking a foreign language is not an oral translation exercise.

There are two types of approaches to acquiring knowledge:

When asked what year follows 1999, you can immediately answer 2000 without having to think for a long time and, above all, without having memorised each number individually, starting with 1, 2, 3 ... You know that numbers are formed according to a certain pattern. With only ten digits, you can form an infinite number of numbers and always know which number comes next.

For adults, I offer online "Free Talk" classes. These classes are very popular and are ok for any age. I currently have a group class of people aged 60s to 80s. If you want to talk about daily life, news, hobbies, traveling, etc. and enjoy speaking English, then this is a good class to do it. Usually a 1-hour class is best as it gives plenty of time.
