BA1/BA2 — Statistics & Probability Course — Exam and Resit Preparation

BA1/BA2 — Statistics & Probability Course — Exam and Resit Preparation

Do you have a statistics or probability exam in BA1/BA2? I can help you review the material in a clear, structured and exam-oriented way. I support higher education students (university and college), particularly in their first and second years of undergraduate studies, to understand important concepts, redo practical exercises, and practice with exam-style questions. My goal is simple: to help you understand the logic behind formulas, know when to use them, recognize correct reasoning in a statement, and gain autonomy when facing exercises. Subjects covered according to your program: • Descriptive statistics: mean, median, variance, standard deviation, quartiles, quantiles, coefficient of variation, box plots, histograms, graphs, interpretation of tables and data. • Univariate and bivariate statistics: analysis of one variable, analysis of two variables, scatter plots, covariance, correlation, regression line, coefficient of determination, interpretation of relationships between variables. • Probabilities: events, union, intersection, complement, conditional probabilities, independence, Bayes' theorem, probability trees, contingency tables. • Combinatorial probabilities: permutations, arrangements, combinations, draws with or without replacement, counting, classic exam situations. • Random variables: discrete and continuous variables, probability function, density function, distribution function, expectation, variance, standard deviation, variable transformation. • Probability laws: Bernoulli distribution, binomial distribution, normal distribution, standard normal distribution, Student's t-distribution, chi-square distribution, use of statistical tables according to your course. • Statistical inference: sampling, estimators, point estimation, confidence intervals, margin of error, degrees of freedom, confidence level. • Hypothesis testing: null hypothesis H0, alternative hypothesis H1, significance threshold, p-value, one-tailed or two-tailed test, test on a mean, test on a proportion, chi-square test, interpretation of results. • Exam preparation: reading statements, choosing the right method, identifying the formulas to use, typical exercises, past exams, guided corrections and problem-solving methods. Method of working : 1. We quickly identify the chapters that are causing problems; 2. I re-explain the theory with simple examples; 3. We redo the important exercises together; 4. I will show you how to recognize good reasoning in the exam; 5. We construct a clear method that can be reused independently. I don't just provide a correction: I explain the reasoning step by step so that you are able to redo the exercises without help. For students retaking the exam, I also offer more intensive support: level assessment, priority identification, review of fundamentals, and practice with typical exercises and past exams. The goal is to get straight to the point and work efficiently within the time available before the exam. I have been giving private lessons for over 7 years in mathematics, statistics, economics, and accounting. I have also tutored first and second-year Bachelor's students at Solvay/ULB in mathematics, statistics, and microeconomics as part of a university tutoring program. My professional experience in finance and business controlling at Deloitte has also allowed me to develop a very structured approach to numbers, analysis and problem-solving. Courses available in French or English, online or in person in Brussels or the surrounding area.

Doctor of Mathematics — secondary school (grades 7-12) and university (bachelor's) courses

Doctor of Mathematics — secondary school (grades 7-12) and university (bachelor's) courses

I offer private mathematics lessons for all levels from secondary school (from first to last year) up to university level (bachelor's degree). A computer science and applied mathematics engineer (PhD in applied mathematics), I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in mathematics. I have also completed teacher training (agrégation) and taught mathematics at Collège Saint-Pierre (Uccle) as well as in two European Schools, in French. I have the official certificate allowing me to teach in French. Although I am a native Dutch speaker, I can therefore teach without difficulty in French (and also in English). My goal is not just to help solve exercises, but to truly make mathematics understandable. I pay particular attention to the structure of the reasoning, the clarity of the explanations, and the step-by-step progression. I particularly help pupils and students who: – wish to consolidate their bases – lack confidence in mathematics – are preparing for an exam or a transition to higher education – want to deepen their understanding My method is based on simple, rigorous explanations adapted to the student's level, as well as carefully chosen exercises to develop autonomy, confidence and work methods. FOR REMOTE COURSES, I USE A GRAPHICS TABLET WITH A STYLUS, WHICH ALLOWS ME TO WRITE AS ON A WHITEBOARD, VISIBLE IN REAL TIME BY THE STUDENT VIA SCREEN SHARING.

✅ SEMIOLOGY, 'BEHAVIORALISM' ('BEHAVIORAL' ANALYSIS, 'PROFILING') IN THE SERVICE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND SPEAKING 🚀

✅ SEMIOLOGY, 'BEHAVIORALISM' ('BEHAVIORAL' ANALYSIS, 'PROFILING') IN THE SERVICE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AND SPEAKING 🚀

➤ A follower of the "message beneath the message", as Roland Barthes would say, the semiologist is above all a detective of language and helps you in this sense: he sees meaning, deciphers and carefully analyzes the signs that surround him to interpret their meaning, reports on the effects of meaning, the connotations and the implicit present in the communication. He starts from the surface signs visible to all to bring out the latent meanings. His interest is most often focused on the phenomena "on the margin", at first glance not very significant, which are located behind the scenes, rather than on stage. In short, all these elements not necessarily visible at first glance. What applies to semiological analysis? Everything: Images, logos, websites, gestures, behaviors, words, speeches, symbols, spaces, in short everything that allows humanity to communicate. On the other hand, the semiological method cannot be invented since it is very specific. Like an iceberg, it is a question of going from superficial and visible signs to latent signs and meanings. ➤ A fascinating discipline, semiology and the analysis of gestures, behaviors and verbal & non-verbal language allows us to decipher the signs of our personal and professional daily lives. In a political speech, on an advertisement, or through our gestures in the professional and personal context, our words and behaviors, the narration of signs mark a certain relationship to the world. ➤ By learning to dissect the meaning of words and gestures, semiology allows us to take a particular look at the coherence of communication and its relevance (versus the opposite), to understand the details of our own speech, and then to make good use of it. ➤ Thus, from the semiological methodology (rigorous, specific, objectifying), verbal, graphic, symbolic and behavioral identities can emerge. ➤ Finally, semiology is neither a matter of philosophy (it only operates from one or more corpora, concrete materials to be analyzed) nor of psychology (it is less interested in intentions than in the signs produced). It is an analysis, a look at one's own communication and that of others which allows one to react better intuitively. ➤ This is why these sessions are intended to be above all practical: filmed exercises, analysis of images to be dissected and then implementation of techniques / tools / methodology which will help you in your daily life, to improve your verbal and non-verbal language but also to decipher and understand that of others. ➤ Among the content browsed: 1) identify and act on behaviors: -transmission of acquired knowledge on non-verbal communication in order to quickly detect intentions -immersive team-building mode to bring out helpful behaviors (despite the saboteurs) 2) Profiling - Diagnose and guide based on a written or visual corpus: -build the storytelling -bring out a type of profile -understand insights 3) Brand Strategy - Create a new brand, company or personal positioning 4) Concrete techniques & a targeted methodology for: ✓Acquire practical tools to improve your rhetoric/repartee ✓Decode and use the practical communication tools of great leaders ✓Fundamentals (practices) of eloquence but also of oratorical art (intonation, gaze, gestures, elocution, range, emotions, pronunciation, development of one's own style of charisma, etc.) to ensure consistency between content and the form ✓Fundamentals of Body Language to support and not interfere with the speech while being convinced & convincing. ✓ Highlighting their speech & promoting their speaking to arouse interest, by building on their strengths. ✓Creation of a coherence between the message emitted & the message received in order to improve its speech and in fact, its professional/personal relations. ✓Management of Q&A sessions & external reactions during an intervention or an oral exchange. ✓Practical tools to put your interlocutor at ease and appear friendly/interested. ✓To succeed in a negotiation/mediation. ✓On the one hand, learning to say 'no' simply in three steps AND on the other hand, getting people to say 'yes'. ✓To turn sentences into positive AND constructive. ✓To manage conflicts (eg 'assertive' communication techniques, eg CNV techniques - Non Violent Communication). ✓To put NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) at the service of communication. ✓To adopt effective, simple, fair and engaging language. ✓To use sentences, turns of phrase & expressions allowing to be precise, simple, effective & challenging. ✓To manage your personal & professional relationships with, for example, the preparation of your ratings. ✓Make your hypersensitivity a strength to tame your abilities. ✓Listening proactively and expressing / conveying ideas / message clearly. ✓Avoid letting your emotions show and propose a constructive solution to problems, while drawing on your own relational skills. ✓Be better equipped to recognize and immediately remedy situations that weaken their authority and affect their ability to communicate effectively. ✓Enhance their potential for expression and creativity (often underestimated until now) and 'apparent' sociability ✓Develop not necessarily self-confidence, but the 'appearance' of self-confidence, refine one's listening to respond adequately, open up to the resources of the imagination, free oneself from the rational to then structure one's speech. ✓Relate their communication objectives (project, institution, values, ideas, demands, etc.) to the form of their expression. ✓Learn and put into practice persuasive communication techniques and better understand the perception that others have of oneself. In order to improve his skills of 'self-presentation' and conveyed image. ✓Practical techniques to foster the engagement of the other party. ✓Strengthen the structure of its communication and develop a convincing argument in order to sell its ideas and projects. ✓ Optimizing internal and external relationships are professional fundamentals so that the structure of sessions, business dialogue and mastery of change communication are valuable. ✓ Decode advertisements, logos and slogans, Understand the impact of images and symbols on our emotions, Analyze cultural trends across the media, Create your own visual messages with formidable efficiency ✓ Analysis of non-verbal communication: - paralinguistic level: voice analysis, intonations, speech rate (...) - proxemic level: analysis of the distance between bodies/individuals - kinesic level: analysis of postures, gestures and facial expressions - infralinguistic level: analysis of physiological changes (dilation of pupils, blushing, sweating, etc.) - symbolic level: analysis of what adorns the body such as clothing, badges, tattoos (...) ➤ The semiologist or semiotician is led to specialize in certain universes, whether it is luxury, mass consumption or behavioral and body dynamics. His analyst side (linguist, semantician, semiologist, semiotician) and lecturer on the themes of negotiation and non-verbal communication will support your approach. ➤ So, discover the hidden secrets of signs if you are curious to understand the mechanisms behind advertisements, works of art, films or even social networks, if you want to learn to decipher hidden messages and analyze the signs that influence our thoughts and actions on a daily basis. As part of a fun and interactive learning experience, with concrete exercises for a captivating immersion. ➤ In short, in a context guided by the tools of semiology, the ability to speak in public is today an essential transversal skill to assert oneself, inform, negotiate and convince. However, to master the keys to successful public communication, it is necessary to strengthen the impact of one's own speeches: by structuring one's interventions and taking into account the circumstances and expectations of the audience; by making an impression through storytelling; by integrating the psychological and emotional factors of effective oral communication; by integrating emotions into the preparation of the message and arguments; by anticipating objections and delicate situations; by preparing and structuring an attractive and convincing presentation framework; by experimenting with the rules of improvisation; by adequately managing difficult situations (...). ➤ Whether your goal is personal or professional, speaking is a predominantly physical activity, relying on a body, a voice, a breath, a rhythm (diction), an emotion and above all techniques, tools, a method, a know-how, reflecting the involvement of the speaker in his speech, all guided by the principles of semiology and behavioral analysis. ➤ So, how do you listen and be listened to, convince and be impactful, challenge and make an impression, enhance your content, address your audience appropriately and optimize the quality and clarity of the exchange/message? It is precisely about going through, implementing and deploying practical and effective techniques of oral presentation, simple intervention or 'one to one` exchange, aimed at challenging your audience or interlocutor, taking care of the content as well as the form, all in a professional or personal setting. For this, there are verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, based on semiology. ➤ Thus, mastered, the practical method allows, through a set of simulations and scenarios based on your daily experience supporting pragmatic & concrete techniques, to improve self-confidence, assurance, ease by overcoming embarrassment and controlling emotion in public. But also to work on leadership & charisma, in a context where empathy and emotional intelligence are at the service of communication, all based on the founding principles of semiology. ➤ To master the keys to successful public communication, it is necessary to master certain practical aspects of semiology, to strengthen the impact of your speeches: by structuring your interventions and taking into account the circumstances and expectations of the audience; by making an impression through storytelling; by integrating the psychological and emotional factors of effective oral communication; by integrating emotions into the preparation of the message and arguments; by anticipating objections and delicate situations; by preparing and structuring an attractive and convincing presentation framework; by experimenting with the rules of improvisation; by adequately managing difficult situations (...). ➤ In short, each session combines techniques & practical exercises adapted to your daily situations (filmed with your agreement in order to be reviewed, commented on, decoded together live), so that you can apply them immediately, and from the 1st session. 🚀 Discover the Hidden Secrets of Signs. Master the piano - enrich your world. Grow your skills with tailored guidance from an experienced pianist and teacher.

Master the piano - enrich your world. Grow your skills with tailored guidance from an experienced pianist and teacher.

Being highly skilled in sight-reading, I have often realised how valuable and enjoyable it is to possess that “gift.” After more than ten years of teaching students of different levels and aspirations, I have observed a common thread: regardless of their goals, all were eager to improve their ability to read and interpret new, unfamiliar music. Currently, I am developing a multifaceted approach designed to help students understand a composition at first sight. This method combines specific pattern recognition and structural score-mapping, anchored in a fundamental understanding of rhythm, pitch, and harmony, together with highly effective practice and memorization strategies personalized to each student's needs and technical challenges. For over ten years, I have been teaching students of all ages and levels. In addition to regular lessons, I offer the opportunities to perform at the yearly class concert as well as dedicated preparation for ABRSM piano examinations. I'm a pianist with extensive performing experience on international stages and a first-prize winner of more than 30 international piano competitions across Europe and USA. I hold a Master's degree and four Postgraduate degrees (piano and chamber music) from the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel.

Guitar / Bass / Ukulele / Theory

Guitar / Bass / Ukulele / Theory

The course that I propose is BILINGUAL FRENCH / ENGLISH, as well as 2 BOOKS. Age and musical taste are not restrictive when in the program, you can with qualitative daily work (not quantitative) quickly observe your progress. Here the pleasure of playing music is put forward. The kind of music you love most will be the focus of the course, their codes and secrets will be the focus of our study, that's what I want to share with you. We can do technical lessons and simply learn together how to play one or more songs of your choice or mine, enrich your game with this approach and your repertoire! (For example, We can re-arrange the pieces and make them more original by approaching the system (CAGED), and enriching their chords, resulting in new positions, new techniques and new sounds, using arpeggio techniques rather than strumming for 4-chord pieces, voicing and fingerstyle techniques, in short, expanding the instrument's playing fields and playing skills to keep progressing in your game and improve your rehearsals ...) If you make a request, this program is obviously accompanied by the pleasure of learning more in theory and being able to directly apply new knowledge on its instrument and identify its common or rare use in the pieces discussed in class. In this case, the theory is translated to be accessible to anyone, both for those who are connoisseurs and for those who discover everything from absolute zero. The exercises, songs, and theoretical explanations offered throughout the program are organized in an order of progressive difficulty. I wrote and produced 2 books of my method to learn the guitar and the music, that I sell to accompany my course and your apprenticeship in the best conditions and so that you can continue the course even at home and to review etc ... . There is ONE BOOK OF COURSES containing all the theoretical and practical program of the year, as well as a BOOK OF EXERCISE on the ranges and the modes that you can obtain directly. You can find here an indicative list of objectives that I propose in my theoretical program, which can of course adapt to your request. The general theoretical objectives of the course: --- Tuning / tuning and knowing his guitar: * Standard Tuning * Drop Tuning * Open Tuning * Adjust the optimal tension of the strings * Adjust the shaft axis * Adjust the action of the strings * Choose the strings adapted to the style of play / tuning * Change his strings -Know his chords: * Triads: Fundamental State & Inversions * Tetrads: Fundamental State & Inversions * The chord progressions of the Range * Arpeggio techniques (tapping, sweep, 1/2/4 fing.shape, etc ...) --- Know his scales and his modes * The Mode of the Major scale * 3 Modes of the Minor scale: Natural / Melodic / Harmonic * Modes of the Pentatonic range: 5 positions * Modes of the Blues range: 5 positions Etc ... --- Technique to the Pick / Plectrum / Tab / Pick (Electric Guitar): * Alternate Picking * Fast Picking / Tremolo Picking * Hybrid Picking * Palm Mute * Natural Harmonics * Pinch Harmonics * Artificial Harmonics * Shredding * Tapping * Sweep Picking * Legato Picking --- Strumming / Hand Picking (Acoustic Guitar) * "SnareDrum" percussion on the guitar * Arpeggios pinched with 4 fingers + thumb * Rasgueado (Flamenco Technique) * Generic Strumming * Fingerstyle Picking * Two-finger picking + Legato for fast melodies (eg a solo) -Play the metronome * exercises on click * practice on song riffs -Learn his favorite songs * without thinking about the difficulty, nothing is impossible with the right methodology -Improvise * choose ranges and positions * to place oneself rhythmically, to finish on the judicious notes -Theory of Harmony * Understand harmonization and its practice -Theory on the Melody -Theory of Rhythm

Singing lessons & vocal coaching – Pop, Jazz, Swing, Musical Theatre, Rock – Vocal technique – Saint Gilles, Forest, Ixelles, Uccle, Brussel...

Singing lessons & vocal coaching – Pop, Jazz, Swing, Musical Theatre, Rock – Vocal technique – Saint Gilles, Forest, Ixelles, Uccle, Brussels

Do you want to know your vocal range? To be able to sing higher notes without damaging your voice? To learn how to hit transitional notes? To achieve a powerful yet agile voice? To master belting, twang, distortion, etc.? My name is Matteo, I'm a songwriter, pop and jazz singer, and vocal coach with 20 years of experience in music. I offer singing lessons for all levels and ages. My lessons focus on developing body, muscle, and vocal awareness, helping you perceive and consider your body as a musical instrument. My teaching method is the result of the synthesis of my experience as a singer and the many and diverse study paths followed. The lesson is structured in two parts: the first half devoted to vocal technique, the second half to the musical repertoire and learning the musical language (jazz or pop or other genre). The vocal technique that I propose is a basic technique for all types of modern singing: from postural education to the care of breathing, from the use of abdominal muscles, to the emission of air to the resonance cavities. We will work on the sound, on the extension of the voice, on the high and low notes, on the passage of register, on the control, on the power and agility. From a repertoire perspective, the lessons will be tailored to the student's needs and interests, with an emphasis on proper stage presence and posture. I can prepare students for conservatory entrance exams and all types of auditions. If the student wishes, I can also provide instruction in harmony and music reading.

“ Lou-Indigo is hands-down the best teacher I have ever had the pleasure of learning music from. Having been taught by a number of music teachers for a variety of different instruments, I have experienced a range of different teaching styles and personalities, yet nobody has been able to keep me focused and captivated by music in the way that Lou-Indigo does. In the past, music lessons would always bore me, as I found that my perspective of music being an outlet of creativity would often be tarnished by previous teachers who took too much of a strict, structural approach to music. On the other hand, some other teachers would be too relaxed, often leading to me becoming frustrated by a lack of progress and direction. Lou-Indigo manages to skillfully combine structure, creativity and a relaxed atmosphere into a 60-minute lesson. I am the complete opposite of bored and genuinely look forward to every lesson. Instead of feeling drained after sessions, I feel inspired to learn more. In my opinion, Lou-Indigo does this by crafting just the right amount of challenge into each exercise, enough to give you a sense of progress and achievement, but not too much to make you feel frustrated or overly daunted. Furthermore, his clear explanation of music theory and guitar techniques, evidently backed by years of experience, gives you a deeper insight into music, uncovering the medium's potential for creative expression. I could not recommend Lou-Indigo more. ”

“ Have been taking lessons with Matteo for 6 months (approximately every 2 weeks) and couldn't be happier with the choice. His attention for identifying strengths and weaknesses in technique is excellent, and it's clear he genuinely cares about helping you to improve. I also really appreciated from the first lesson his nuanced approach to vocal technique, where instead of framing things as right or wrong, he focuses more on helping you to understand what you are doing (thus leaving room for stylistic choices). I have also found discussions regarding song composition incredibly helpful as an aspiring singer-songwriter. Overall, thrilled with the experience so far and have certainly started to see improvements in my vocal technique during the last few months. ”

“ Prashil is hands down the best teacher my son has ever had the pleasure of learning from. He is inspiring, incredibly thoughtful, kind and genuinely talented at what he does. We started with in-person lessons and eventually moved to online sessions, and both have been fantastic. In fact, my son absolutely loves the online format! Prashil has a wonderful way of making learning engaging, enjoyable and fun, even through a screen. Since starting lessons with Prashil, I’ve seen a real difference in my son’s confidence, both in his learning and at school. It’s so much more than just academic progress. Prashil really knows how to bring out the best in a child. I couldn’t recommend him more highly! ”
