Multi-graduate, I remain an eternal student. Even when I was little, still at the beginning of my primary schooling, I was looking for ways to learn more easily. This search for rapid and effective study continued with me during secondary school, to which was added the challenge of following them in English immersion. The personal learning methods that I had developed took on even more meaning when the thick university syllabi piled up on my desk. Trusted teacher: Hello and thank you for visiting this website! I'm an established, qualified, and experienced violin teacher who has worked in London for the last 26 years. I'm now back in Belgium for some new musical adventures, as well as to meet new students. I welcome students from the age of four to adults. I have a real passion for transmitting my love of music, and I like to have a creative, playful and holistic approach to teaching. I also play the piano and often use it for aural training or to accompany my students (or do violin duets). I do believe that music is not just for competitions or exams but a skill for life that can bring tremendous joy, discoveries, friends and fun along the way. Learning an instrument is also a great way to foster different qualities such as patience, diligence, presence, resilience, deep listening and the ability to express and share our emotions with others. Having explored many different violin methods and styles, I take a different approach according to each student. I like to teach a solid classical technique with some scales, studies and pieces, but there are many different ways to make music enjoyable or find other paths depending on the student's goal. Although I was trained classically in Belgian Conservatoires and the Guildhall School of Music, I do like to teach a variety of music that is not just classical (Celtic, world, klezmer, jazz, tango, film music, pop...). I often encourage my students to compose or improvise freely. In the last two decades, I have led many youth orchestras and violin workshops and worked for many different primary and secondary schools in England. I am very happy to have found a teacher like François-Jean for my very first encounters with a cello. Not only he is very competent as a musician and teacher he also is multilingual and I enjoy my lessons given in my mother tongue German. Until now I had 3 lessons with him all of them fruitful, focussed and funny at the same time. I can highly recommend him for every person interested in cello lessons in Brussels.
